It's also been announced that Jeep is addressing the perceived low-rent interior of the Patriot in 2009 with a revamped interior. I don't know how much better it will be, but you could use that info as a bargaining chip on a 2008. You can also get some good deals on remaining 2007 models, but choices are limited (and often Limiteds!), and there's the whole stigma of buying a first-year vehicle. I bought an '08 2WD Sport CVT in late November 2007, and so far I'm happy (but then again, I was looking for a fuel-efficient, versatile vehicle to go with my wife's sedan, and not a rock crawler). I'm a little annoyed at the interior upgrade announcement, but will have to wait and see how substantial a change it brings.
