Just bought a 2004 X- 3.0
by monty2222 on Sun Jun 29 16:24:47 PDT 2008
It was from a used car lot. According to carfax it was a 3 year lease in PA, had a right front accident in 2005, has 35,000 miles. I got it for $14,400. Perfect finish, engine very clean. Drove good. I noticed the pass door made a rattle when closed with the window down. They said they would tighten it up before I pick it up next week. Is this typical? I notice on all the Jags on the lot, the interior door trim panel shakes when you slam the door shut. Never see that on other cars. As a first time Jag owner would appreciate any tips. Oh, the chrome trim around the side windows is like a corroded look, not shiny. Bumper trim is fine. He said it is a known issue with aluminum trim on this car and he has known the dealer to replace it free. Is there a recall (silent recall)? I have to check the vin with the dealer, it may be under warranty till november.
05 X-TYPE VDP w/ NAVI
by mattr82 on Tue Jun 28 09:49:26 PDT 2005
We are very interested in purchasing a remaining 05 X-TYPE VDP w/ navi. Has anyone had any experience purchasing this car in NY/NJ/PA area? The MSRP comes to around 41k, but the best price we have been offered is around 37k OTD, including 6% NJ sales tax, 99 docu fee, 399 regis for 48 mo. Being that Jaguar's sales have been very poor, and the 06's are coming out soon, we feel that we can get a very good deal for this car now. Any recommendations on negotiating or which dealer/salesperson we should use would be spectacular. If people could post what they paid for this car, that would also be greatly appreciated. Thank You in advance. Matt :)

Re: Manufacturer to Dealer Cash [mwlacey]

Not sure where you are mwlacey but... both (whoo hoo...) dealers in the Western PA area were more than willing to start at $7000 off MSRP for 3.0s. Depending on options... that's 3% plus. My folks got $7000 off MSRP and a very good trade-in value. After my folks bought one, my sister also expressed interst but she's in the Gettysburg area so I called dealers in Harrisburg and Frederick, MD. $550 over invoice -$5500 on the 2.5 was not too hard to come by... I've heard that dealers in the Baltimore/DC area are eager to sell at similar markup. If you're in GA or TN, it may be worth your while to make the trip. If you're in WA or NV, may not... Jaguar hasn't made a stinkin' dime for Ford since they bought them in what... 1994, 1996? They're getting out of F1 (even selling off engine supplier Cosworth) and shutting down excess capacity. Anybody can score a deal right now because of over-supply and the ghosts of reliability problems...
