I came to your parts department today to purchase a Front License Plate Frame, as the Ford dealer in Clinton indicated you had one in stock. Your parts manager told me the price and directed me to the cashier. On my return he gave me the frame. He said "This is mounted with two rivets, stop over to the Service department and see if they have a minute to pop it on for ya real quick." I replied, "Thank you, I'll do that". I thought "a courtesy install on a cosmetic plastic plate frame, ok nice touch of customer service...good business builder, customer loyalty... and so on... The service team leader returned 10 minutes later and directed me again to the cashier. Ok. A little quick addition on the way to the cashier... "10 minutes... 2 standard rivets removal, insertion... 10 bucks... ok, Ford Dealership...$15.00. The cashier gave me the bill to sign..."23.55 labor, parts $2.00, total with tax $27.20. While I acknowledge this is only $27.20; the plastic license frame was only $12.50. Had I been given even a ballpark estimate that you'd charge that much, on a part that inexpensive, given the option, I'd have done it myself. If you haven't noticed - money is tight for everyone lately and carefully directed as such. The cashier smiled and said, "Well, at least it's all done now." She was right. It was done. Buyer beware. I've had it with Ford dealerships. Plastic license plate frame: $13.46 Installation: $27.20 Labor: 10 minutes Letting everybody know: Priceless. So it's clear, I wasn't looking for free, I was expecting reasonable.

I was originally disappointed in what had transpired. However, I was surprised and pleased when I received this letter in the mail today. The refund was unexpected but I am grateful for the acknowledgement of the problem and that steps have been taken to make charges appropriate to work actually performed. Thank you Mr. Miller ........................ [On Lindquist Letterhead] 2/11/2009 Thank you for your letter of February 2nd 2009. All of the points made in your letter are absolutely correct. Further I would have felt exactly the same if the situation had happened to me. I am embarassed that no one after the parts person (who I feel did do a nice job) was able to realize tha charges for installation of the plate frame were not correct. We have since installed a price menu in all departments for installation of small items, plate frames, windshield wiper blades and etc. The menu will resolve the full labor rate charge created by the computer for small items. The menu will also allow the customer to decide if they wish to have us do the installation. In your case the menu charge would be $9.00. In closing, please find the enclosed check for $40.66 which represents the full amount you paid for the installation and the plate frame itself. Refunding the entire transaction was the only way I could let you know Lindquist Ford and Clinton Auto Group does not intend to overcharge or deceive anyone. We are not immune to make mistakes but we will make things right with our customers when our errors are reviewed. I would only ask you to copy this letter to Edmonds.com and Yahoo Local. I will hold off removing your name from our data bases until I hear from you following this letter. Should you have any questions please contact me at 563-449-9001. Sincerely, /sig/ Craig Miller General Manager Lindquist Ford
