I came to your parts department today to purchase a Front License Plate Frame, as the Ford dealer in Clinton indicated you had one in stock. Your parts manager told me the price and directed me to the cashier. On my return he gave me the frame. He said "This is mounted with two rivets, stop over to the Service department and see if they have a minute to pop it on for ya real quick." I replied, "Thank you, I'll do that". I thought "a courtesy install on a cosmetic plastic plate frame, ok nice touch of customer service...good business builder, customer loyalty... and so on... The service team leader returned 10 minutes later and directed me again to the cashier. Ok. A little quick addition on the way to the cashier... "10 minutes... 2 standard rivets removal, insertion... 10 bucks... ok, Ford Dealership...$15.00. The cashier gave me the bill to sign..."23.55 labor, parts $2.00, total with tax $27.20. While I acknowledge this is only $27.20; the plastic license frame was only $12.50. Had I been given even a ballpark estimate that you'd charge that much, on a part that inexpensive, given the option, I'd have done it myself. If you haven't noticed - money is tight for everyone lately and carefully directed as such. The cashier smiled and said, "Well, at least it's all done now." She was right. It was done. Buyer beware. I've had it with Ford dealerships. Plastic license plate frame: $13.46 Installation: $27.20 Labor: 10 minutes Letting everybody know: Priceless. So it's clear, I wasn't looking for free, I was expecting reasonable.
