08 G35 Sedan Journey Premium pkg. Navigation pkg. Painted splash guards Cargo net Ivory w/stone interior 3% tax $599 doc fee Lake Norman Infiniti in Cornelius, NC $36,309 total out the door I got quotes from Infiniti dealers in NC and SC, then asked Lake Norman to beat the best one (which was from Bradshaw Infiniti in Greenville, SC). Lake Norman wouldn't beat it, but they matched it. And since they are local to me, I took the deal. Picking it up tonight after work.
Here is the ultimate nightmare Infiniti buying experience!!!!
by jac167 on Tue Dec 19 20:37:32 PST 2006
I would like to tell you about my nightmare attempted purchase of a 2007 G35. It started on Thursday December 14th. I purchased a 2007 G35 Journey (Lakeshore Slate, Navi, Premium, and Wood interior) from Infiniti of Charlotte, NC. We did the typical negotiating and I felt I got a great deal and it was a great experience. They kept my car and gave me a loaner to use for a day while they got the car which was located at another dealer – Nalley Infiniti, Marietta GA. I paid in full and was told the car would be at the dealership the next day later in the afternoon. On Friday the 15th, I was heading to Charlotte that morning to get the car when I got a call from my sales associate saying there was a minor glitch. The glitch was that the car was no longer available. Nalley apparently sold the car Thursday night after they had promised it to Charlotte. My sales person was not very much help in fixing the problem so the sales manager got involved. He was very apologetic and said that he could get a Serengeti Sand with Navi, Premium, Tech, but no wood interior from Greenville, SC. There would be no extra charge since they screwed up or just give me my money back. I said when the wood becomes available, I would pay for the wood package if you pay for the labor. He agreed but said he could not quote the price of the wood since it was not in the system yet. Needless to say, I was still in shock and not very happy since I paid for the car. I told them I would think about it and let them know by Saturday. Josh said that was fine since he was leaving for vacation. Here is where the true nightmare starts. I thought I would check with a few dealers to see what was really out there. I called Knoxville, TN and spoke with the Sales Manager and he said the only car that was to my specifications was in St. Louis. He said the shipping cost would be high. He was very helpful and courteous. I finally thought I would contact Nalley Infiniti, in Marietta, GA, (since they sold my first car) and see what they had available. I spoke to a sale person and he started the ball rolling, I told him what I was looking for and the issue that I had had in Charlotte. He looked in the data base and said he found the car and could have it to the dealership by the end of the week. I said are you sure we are talking about the same car and specs? He said he was positive but would verify and call me back. He called back and said it was the car. I then asked that if you guys can give me the same deal as Charlotte, that we will do business. I faxed them my detailed Bill of Sale showing my new car price and trade-in. He called me back and said they can do the exact same deal. They didn’t say, we will see, or come on down, but said they will do the same EXACT deal. I was in conversation with Nalley at least 6 times verifying the car and to make sure the deal was on. If it was not going to happen, I still had a very good deal on the substitute car that Charlotte offered and did not want to loose that opportunity even though it was not my first choice. Nalley assured me that the deal was on. So, Monday the 18th, I called Charlotte and told them the deal was off and took their loaner back and got most of my money back (had to wait for check to clear.) I could tell they weren’t happy but it was their fault, not mine. I told Nalley that I couldn’t come down Monday but would be down Tuesday morning. They called back and wanted a deposit so I gave them a credit card number and was all set. Tuesday morning I drove 4 hours to Atlanta to cut this deal. I got to the dealer and sat down with the sales associate and went through the usual formalities. I gave them my Bill of Sale, they checked out my car, and started the paperwork. About 30 minutes later the sales associate comes back and tells me there’s a glitch. ANOTHER GLITCH! The car they are getting also has the Tech package. I didn’t want the Tech package and why after 4 days are they finding this out? I told the sales guy that I was not happy at all but I would meet them half way and give them $600 for the package. I then looked closer at the deal and noticed they were giving me $1000 less on my trade-in. I then was getting highly pissed and got the usual BS story about the mileage. That all did not matter because I had a solid agreement stating they would do the same deal. The Sales Manager then came over, I think his name was ***** , and I had to listen to the same old BS that I’ve heard in the past about the mileage, transportation cost, etc. That did not matter. I had a deal! As a matter of fact the quote from the sale associate was when I asked if I was getting the same deal he quote said, “No, you are getting a better deal because we have to get the car from another dealer.” So now I’m $1700 off. They said would you do another color? I said I would do the Serengeti Sand with my options (I knew it wasn’t out there.) The wood package is the problem. There seems to be no cars with wood. The sales guy, came back to me and said that they found the Serengeti Sand car with no wood. I said, “Hell, I had that deal in Charlotte with a Tech package for free” that you guys made me loose. He then actually said so what about the other car? There was nothing to discuss so I told him to get my keys immediately. I then said I want to see your sales manager again. He came out and I told him that he was plainly screwing me and this whole Infiniti experience has been terrible from the first day I stepped on the Infiniti lot. He said that he would try to do something for me so he went back and came back with a deal of splitting the tech package but nothing on my trade so I was still $1000 off. These guys blatantly lied to me and had me come to their dealership under false pretense. I didn’t get the car I was promised or the price I was assured. There is no misunderstanding between Nalley and me since there were over 6 phone calls verifying everything. Charlotte Infiniti screwed up, thanks to Nalley, but admitted fault and tried to fix it as best as possible. Nalley Infiniti is a bunch of crooks and this is a prime example why consumers look at car dealerships as slime! Thank you

OK. I'll be the first to fess up on less than stellar bargaining for the G 35. Man these things are in short supply right now. I have bought "Many" new cars in the last 8 years and rarely have paid more than invoice plus or minus $300. I live in the SE US and called dealers in Fl. GA, SC, NC and found only one built to my specs available. Needless to say they had me over a barrell. Specs: G35 Sterling silver, (wanted Platinum but no one had the car built like I wanted) Luxury leather premium winter xenons navigaition splash guards MSRP: 36,415.00 Final sale 35,500 Luckily, My bank has a 5% interest rate at the momnent. Pick it up today. Maybe the prices will come down as the popularity wanes a little. But now that I am an owner I hope not too far down.
