First Time Leaser: by skmiller22 on Tue May 13 11:04:19 PDT 2008; Hi, Ive never leased a car before and have been reading through the forums and some sites and Im trying to get some info together before heading to the Infiniti Dealer so I don't get ripped off. I live in NJ and am looking to lease an Infiniti G37 Journey with premium package, sport package, splash guards. I would be doing a 36 month lease with the least amount of miles they will negotiate(10,000 or 12,000) a year. How much above invoice should I try to negotiate for the base cap cost? From reading through pages of posts it looks like most people are getting 500 above invoice. Is this true? What is the highest above invoice you'd recommend going at this time for base cap cost? Im thinking of printing out the Invoice pricing from Edmunds/Yahoo and showing it to the dealer and say how close to this can you get rather then haggle with him. Also what is the current Residual Value and Money Factor/Interest Rate that Infiniti is using this month? I have very good credit if that comes into play in the interest rate. I am guessing that once I have this information along with the NJ sales tax of 7% that I can plug the #'s into a calculator online and come up with my monthly payments. Is there anything I should be aware of before going into the dealership? Anything that they will try to throw into the lease to screw me over or things that they will offer me that I do not need? How does Gap insurance work - does infiniti include this or do i pay extra and if so how much should i be willing to pay? How about general dings and dents, is there a clause in the lease I should look for? Like I said Im new to this and want to ensure that I get the best deal possible without getting screwed. Lastly, would I get a better deal if I held off a week and went during Memorial Day weekend or will it be essentially the same regardless of this week or next?

Working backward, and assuming a tax of 7% it seems the MF you are being charged is about .0025, which is too high. The MF should be .0019-.0020. Then, with a tax of 7% (I chose that because I live in NJ) your monthly incl tax and with $1500 down should be about $535.

Re: M35X / 2008 / Tech / Nav [nycdude]: by kyfdx on Fri May 09 11:23:57 PDT 2008; BMW guys say they can do the MSD thing by buying in NJ, even though they live in NY.. Technically, your security deposit shouldn't be at risk.. But, once the insurance company and the leasing bank start talking about payoffs, almost anything can happen.. I've yet to hear a definitive "you can never lose that deposit, due to accident".

Good deal?: by jakebaby on Sat May 03 17:03:53 PDT 2008; 2008 G35 4 door premium package no NAV $0 down $2,548 due at signing = (bank fee $795, destination $715, plus first month $348 +NJ tax 7%) $348 a month for 24 months was told to add NAVIGATION would be an extra $20 per month Is this a good deal? Re: May IFS G lease numbers [dwynne]: by mkadams9 on Sat May 03 09:25:16 PDT 2008; He wouldn't give me the May money factor because of the deal that he gave me on the car was based on my taking a car off the lot that would show up on the April books even though i picked it up in May. I worked the deal out for a G35x no money out of pocket at all, 36 months/15K for $526. He didn't have the color I wanted unless I took one with the Nav package which I didn't want. He than offered me the car with Nav, for the same price as one without Nav. I checked invoice and it was about $200 below. The money factor was .0016 and the residual was 60%. both numbers were dead on for April. The sticker was 39725 and I paid about 36200. Dealer was excellent. (Ray Catena in central NJ). BTW, since he couldn't give me the May money factor, he instead gave me 2 oil changes
