Sorry to beat a dead horse on this topic but even though I agree that Infiniti could/and is doing things to improve mileage (see introduction of 7sp auto on 2009 FX), the difference between it and it's competitors is not as great as everyone complains about. To whit, look at the new EPA number for the cars in the class (15k/yr at $3.49/gal) with a 55/45 city/hwy split): Infiniti M45 ($2911) BMW550 ($2911) Audi A6(4.2) ($2911) M-B E550 ($3078) and Lexus GS460 ($2618) Infiniti M35 ($2754) BMW535 ($2618) AudiA6 ($2492) M-B E350 ($2754) LexGS350 ($2382) and Cadillac CTS ($2445) Are these differences in annual fuel costs significant for a car in these price ranges?

I need a sedan with a roomy back seat and prefer the M. I have to believe that given the economy and gas prices the 08 Ms aren't selling particularly well. My options include the BMW 5 (I had two), the Audi A6 (not a great value), the Cadillac CTS (ugly), and the Lexus GS (small inside, high $, boring overall). That said, it's probably the M again, but I do need the residuals and money factors for 24 and 36 month leases.

I bought my 07 on Nov 30 and the 08s had just recently hit the lots. There may be good deals to be had in the short term considering the gas milage they get, people may not be lining up to buy them. Couple that with a generally bad economy and sales of the luxury cars will inspire them to offer some good pricing/financing. Shop around and shoot low. Good luck!

Re: 2008 M35x with tech package [oblomov]: by bocatrip on Mon Dec 31 21:34:02 PST 2007; $500 over invoice sounds about right. The dealership I went to today in S.E. Florida is loaded with 07s and will not negotiate for close to invoice until March. I'm in no hurry, but he agrees that there are plenty of dealers that will go for the close to invoice for 08 Ms now. The G37s are also selling for close to invoice and they just came out. The EX 35 is not quite as hot as anticipated so it should be purchased right in the next few months as well. The industry is quite slow and the buyers are totally in control at this point. Edmunds Just Posted the Invoice Numbers for 2008 Ms: by dark_katana on Thu Nov 29 12:58:30 PST 2007; M45X Invoice is $47,630 plus destination fee of $715. No pricing for options yet. Edmunds also doesn't show the federal gas tax which Infiniti gives as $1,300.
