New G37S

Well, I am now the owner of a new 2009 G37S 6MT. The price was $36,450 which included the Premium, Nav, and Aerodynamic packages, Cargo area organizer, splash guards, and destination charges. That turned out to be ~$1000 under invoice. The car also included wheel locks (another $199), and I went with an optional 5-year road hazard warranty for the wheels and tires that was another $599. Adding on TTT and the bottom line was $39755 out the door and on the road. I didn't really price shop around much. I did test drive a couple of used G35's, but the big-box used car super stores wanted $20-25K for a 3 year old G35 with 40K miles on it. Also manual trannies were pretty rare. So, in the end I decided that new G37 with the full factory warranty was worth the additional money.

Sorry, I should have been more descriptive. Let me start over now that I actually have the car: G37x sedan (Blue Slate w/aluminum and Stone interior), Premium package, cargo net, floor mats, splash guards, 7 year extended warranty, and the dealership's VIP package, which includes free oil changes/car washes, discounts on parts/service, loaner cars during maintenance, 50% off detailing, free tire rotations, and free inspections for life (~$1k) Just the car: $33,500. Total including VIP, ext. warranty, and tax, titles, tag, and haggling: $38k. They were able to match my credit unions financing and actually go lower, so I'm really happy with that. I got it from Sheehy Infiniti, in Annapolis, MD. The service was good there, though the dealers like to make you wait while the finance guy 'does his thing' with your paperwork, though I suppose that's anywhere. I shopped around quite a bit in the MD/DC area until I got them to beat some internet quotes. I've had it for about 2 weeks now and I'm really happy with it. If anyone wants to pair up for the AMEX deal, let me know.

My experience at Passport was fair--nothing special. I actually live five minutes from JBA, but they didn't have the loaded model I was looking for at the time. (They did locate on up in New Jersey and offered to drive--not flatbed, but drive--it down, which I declined.) Passport gave me their "best, final" offer on the phone one day ("any lower and we won't make any profit on it!"), but when I let them know (no bluff) that JBA beat their offer by $300, they were able to miraculously meet it.
new G37X purchase question

Hello all, Many thanks for this forum. Can't say enough about the superb info exchanged here. I am in suburban DC (hello to others recently posting from here as well). Have begun discussions with local MD dealer on a G37X w/ Premium pkg. Am considering taking Infiniti Financing (1.9 @ 60mo, etc.), which, I believe, means the $2500 dealer incentive is off the table. Is that correct? Q 1: is it possible to get the 2500 dealer incentive and take credit union financing or is standard dealer financing required? It appears to me that if I can get a super deal (33500) and can get private financing at a low rate (aprox 4.15%), I would be better off to forget the financing. Q 2: Assuming I took the financing deal, I was quoted $36500 incl. freight and dealer processing (99), but not incl 6% MD tax and title. That seems a little high to me, even if that was quoted with the 1.9 deal and -$2500 off the table. What do you guys think? Many thanks again,

Greetings from a Marylander. I opted for the AWD because I like the added traction in all weather situations (accelerating in the rainstorm last week was an amazing experience that's nearly impossible in FWD/RWD cars), but it does come with more weight and cost, so it's your choice. I certainly wouldn't argue it's "mandatory" in this region, but summer tires (with the RWD sport package) definitely don't play well in the snow. I feel your pain regarding the NAV, especially--as you point out--good portable units cost just a few hundred dollars. In defense of the factory option, (a) it's a much bigger and more detailed screen, (b) it doesn't invite break-ins, (c) it's neatly integrated with XM traffic, and (d) it includes the awesome hard-drive music box. And, resale value should be taken into account; as navs become increasingly common in 30k+ cars (and even some below), it may be difficult to sell a car without it in a few years if that's what most buyers are expecting. But, of course, it's your call. The price quote you got sounds very good to me. I ended purchasing from Passport Infiniti in Alexandria, after cross-shopping all the area dealers (mainly because they had the only fully loaded G37xS around at the time).
