Re: 2007 Infiniti G35x AWD Prices [abraindrainer]

My guess is that it will take more than a few weeks for prices to start dropping below MSRP. Also, while I haven't had a chance to drive one yet, real engine output is supposed to be considerably more than an 8 hp increase. There are new hp measurement standards for '07. Also, if one is comparing G35x to G35x, the 298 hp was only available on the sport version in '06, so the real power advantage should be even greater. Others may know the details better.
Re: Buying exp at Infiniti of Chantilly, VA [wbr99]

wbr99, I had a similarly good buying experience from Infiniti of Chantilly. I purchased an '05 G35x last month. They seem honest and straight-forward. Of off the dealers in the Washington, DC area, they were the most responsive to my Edmunds internet inquiries. The 500 club is a nice sweetener for anyone looking to purchase in the next few months. As a new dealership, they seem to be working hard to establish a set of satisfied customers who will have a reason to keep coming back.
Re: G35x or 6speed 2WD? [carnag]

There are pros and cons to the G35x vs the 2WD, as with all things. First the downsides. The AWD system adds a little weight (though the engine and suspension are more than up to the task of handling it), hurts gas mileage a little, does not come with the sports package, and adds cost. The upsides might make this an attractive car for you, though. The AWD system is unusual in that it maximizes performance in both dry and slippery settings. From stops, the car accelerates initially with 80% to the rear wheels and 20% to the front wheels. If the car senses the need, it will stay in AWD and even increase the % going to the front wheels. If there is no need, however, the car will shift 100% to the rear wheels for improved dry pavement performance. Whenever sensors indicate the need, however, the AWD will automatically come back on and will distribute the power to the wheels in the ratio needed. There is also a "snow" switch that will turn the car into an all-time 50-50 AWD. This is NOT recommended in non-slippery settings, however. Hope this helps.
Re: buying a new 2005 g35 coupe [moodgard]

I bought a Twilight Blue/Wheat G35 this weekend. I looked at the Stone interior, and probably would have preferred it, but the car was otherwise configured exactly as I wanted. I've been looking for this specific configuration in the Washington area, and this was the one car I found. Infinity of Chantilly (a new dealership -- just one month old -- that seemed to be more willing than others in the area to do what was necessary for my business) took good care of me, so I went with it. Their first 500 customers, in fact (I was #50something) get "free" oil changes for the life of the car, all scheduled maintenance for the first 30,000 miles "free," discounts on parts and service, and more. I say "free" because of course we are ultimately paying for it, but it is still a nice extra benefit that adds real value if you live in the DC area. They are obviously doing it to try to build a long-term customer base. Back to the regularly-scheduled program, I actually like the Wheat. I wanted a lighter interior, and it is a nice contrast with the dark blue exterior. The Stone, I think, may be easier to keep clean, but both look great. Again, it is just a matter of personal preference. The only way to really know is to look at the actual car.
Dealer recommendations in Washington, DC area?
by klpeel on Tue Jul 12 11:41:48 PDT 2005
I'm finally ready to move on from my 2000 Passat GLX, and the G35 is one of the cars I'll be looking at. Any recommendations? Probably interested in the AWD to help pull through the DC area winter slush. Any particular buying experiences in the area to pass along? Thanks.
