Question on Lease Offer
by duson on Sat Mar 22 15:47:33 PDT 2008
Hello all! I was quoted the following on a G37 with Premium, Nav, Splash Guards, and Trunk Mat. MSRP of $42,285, Invoice of $38,550, using a residual of 76%(12k miles), MF of .00209 (not .00195, like I saw posted here), for 24 months. The tax rate here in TN is 7%, and the selling price was quoted as $39,350 ($800 over invoice which includes Tax, Title, and fees). With $628 down, the monthly payment would be $511. First, does this seem like a good price? Second, using the http://www.edmunds.com/apps/calc/CalculatorController?pmtcalAction=lease_calc lease calculator, I keep getting a payment of $572, http://www.leasewizard.com/calculator/calcie.cfm?id=105&CFID=69759427&CFTOKEN=13- 139575 gives me $453 - what am I doing wrong? I wasn't sure where the $800 in fees and the $628 down were supposed to plug in. Thanks for any help! P.S. The salesman at the dealership remembered you, DWynne :)

I agree, even with upfronts paid out of pocket on a Base car, all those numbers are excellent. Id love to see the purchase price and msrp on those

You can find the invoice on Edmunds, KBB, and other places. I like to use carsdirect.com because it enforces the "rules" like you have to check the premium pack to get the nav pack, etc. The lease MF and residuals for Jan are posted here, probably 10-15 message above this one. You can also search for JAN in the search box. It depends on if your father's friend works for Nissan or not. Nissan employees can generate C codes for their friends. Plan D is for employees of partner companies and NOT for friends of employees of partner companies. So if he works for Nissan, you can get a code, if not then you can't. For Plan D the buyer/lessee would have to provide ID and proof on employment with the partner company, so that would not fly for you. As to the credit, you may have to get your father to co-sign your new lease for you. A 700 would probably put you just outside tier 1 for Nissan. They most likely use an auto enhanced score with no auto credit history your score may be really low. With a co-signer you can get the lease and once you pay it off with no lates you have no problem the next time getting the lease on your own. IFS would probably write you this time on your own, but the rate would be a lot higher I am afraid. What are you planning on doing with your current car? If it is worth more than the current lease buy out you can sell it to a dealer or trade it in and be done with. Otherwise you might as well keep driving it and worry about a new car closer to the end of the current lease. Dennis

Vehicle Purchase Program There is a employee price (plan A), employee's immediate family (plan B), friend or extended family (plan C), and suppliers / business associates (plan D). For plans A-C you have work for Nissan/Infiniti, have an immediate family member that does, or know someone who does (or know someone who knows someone). For plan D you have to work for someone who supplies Nissan/Infiniti or has a business relationship with them. Lots of companies listed, like Chase auto finance, dental insurance companies, State of Michigan, etc. If you don't know anyone, then plan D would be your only choice. You can look for your employer at this link to see if you qualify. There appears to be no limit on the number of plan C codes generated by a single employee. At one time Grubbs Infiniti in TX would sell cars to anyone for VPP if they were a member of a certain online forum. I assume they either had permission from Nissan or just had permission from a single employee and a copy of their ID badge. The GM that was doing this at Grubbs is no longer there and I don't think they are doing this any longer. It is possible some other dealer(s) would do this as well, but I have no idea who this could be. As was mentioned, you probably can do as well/better on a coupe without the VPP code. On a sedan, others have reported prices pretty close to VPP prices - but it depends on the dealer and how much they are motivated to move a car. The nice part about VPP is you just tell them you have a VPP claim code and if they accept them there on that car (dealer's option, not obligated) then there is no negotiation. They do get to charge you a "doc" fee and you to pay (or negotiate) for any dealer installed accessories on the car you choose. So picking a dealer with no or low doc fee and one that does not put a lot of mop and glow on the cars means a good price with 0 hassle. Dennis
