You need to apply the money factor (interest) to both the cap cost and the residual. That is why the money factor is half the typical interest rate (approximately). The payment is depreciation ((34,444-20,138)/39 = 367) + interest ((34,444+20,138)*.00141=77) which is 444.
Still looking for an 08 M35

Hi all, I have been looking at leasing a M35 here in the Central FL area and I was wondering if anyone has any info on the current deals since the Jan 5th expiration date of the past ones. I am currently leasing a Fx35 with one more month left. Has the money factor/residual/loyalty $ on the 08 M35s changed? Any input as to the timing, negotiating or anything else in leasing would be greatly appreciated. PS I will not deal with Orlando Infinit. They have done nothing but waste my time.

I live in Orlando. I emailed all Infiniti dealers in FL until I could find white/wheat on a base 08 M35. Sarasota offered the best price first then the GM renigged on the price by 1K. When I told them what they could do with it they came back down. By that time I found a car in Tampa and they met the price and included the spoiler, wheel locks, splash guards, trunk mat and nitrogen filled tires (scam). Base M35's are getting harder to find especially with wheat interiors. Love the car. I and some of my friends have found that in Orlando it is best to leave the area when shopping.

tangofan: I live in FL - I am curious, what dealer gave you this price in Orlando? Can you breakdown the deal for me and give me the sales person's name for a reference? Thanks!

I would talk to another dealer. A dealer in California offered 3500 under invoice in May when I first stared to look at them & was only getting 1500 off MSRP in Florida. The freight was too high for me. I was told by a dealer in Orlando Fl. that the 3500.00 was the total incentives they had to play with on purchased EX (not a lease) and was available until June 30, 2008 on any in stock EX they had on the lot. He also stated back in May that an additional 500.00 is available as well if the dealer makes his numbers. The Orlando dealer offered me 3300 off invoice on any EX he had. Said the price was good until 6/30/08 I was able to get 3380.00 off invoice for an EX last month from a local dealer.I know the incentives exist, but some dealers don't want to give up all that $$/

I understand you didn't invent the fax attack method, but you are a proponent of it. I used it 3 years ago when getting my wife a new Accord and it did nothing to help me. The dealers that deal low were the lowest, the other dealers would not touch the deal (down into holdback) that I already again. Again, a limited number of dealerships in the area limits the competition. Miami shows 6 dealers, Orlando or Tampa show 4, but Tallahassee and Jacksonville have just 1 each. So south FL is not too bad a place to shop, but north FL would look a lot tougher. You and I may be here trying to help folks and post honest prices, but you can't know that for everyone that posts here. In fact, I can only vouch for the veracity of the price that *I* paid in the forum :D . The point is - if you can get a price close to invoice for the car, destination, and dealer fee then you have a good price - for sure if you don't have to travel to get it. IF you do have enough dealers to compete for the deal then you may can get lower - but a lot of that depends on how many dealerships are around to compete and who owns them. Patience always serves a buyer well and waiting can often produce a better price - but if you find the current finance rate or lease rate to your liking the waiting could produce a lower price but higher financial numbers.
