is there enough in the residual between a 2008 & 2009 M35 2WD to make the 2009 actually cheaper to lease?

g35 journey with premium package/splash guards/trunk net

Hello, i'm new to the forum. Wow, it seems i'm out of your league guys. I'm about to go finalize my lease tomorrow here's the deal: it's for a 2008 g35 sedan 4 door, journey with premium package with splash guards and trunk cargo net. MSRP: 36,230 residual is 56% 39 month 12k miles per year down payment needed is $4980.90 monthly payment is $400 including taxes I saw a deal in the newspaper for $299 for this car without the premium package/splash guard/trunk cargo net with a lower down payment around $4450 I have decent credit score around 690, i'm paying a higher down payment as the ad had a $500 incentive for loyal costumers (previously had an infiniti). I'm seeing all these deals in this forum with barely no down payment with similar monthly payments. Please help, I haven't signed anything, been negotiating over the phone and via e-mail. I feel now I'm getting robbed with the down payment. I don't know the breakdown of the down payment and will ask but how could I bring down my down payment without rising my monthly payments? My insurance is going to sky rocket as I barely had the minimums as I owned my last car (9 years old!). Please advise. Thanks, Saul from Miami, FL

I understand you didn't invent the fax attack method, but you are a proponent of it. I used it 3 years ago when getting my wife a new Accord and it did nothing to help me. The dealers that deal low were the lowest, the other dealers would not touch the deal (down into holdback) that I already again. Again, a limited number of dealerships in the area limits the competition. Miami shows 6 dealers, Orlando or Tampa show 4, but Tallahassee and Jacksonville have just 1 each. So south FL is not too bad a place to shop, but north FL would look a lot tougher. You and I may be here trying to help folks and post honest prices, but you can't know that for everyone that posts here. In fact, I can only vouch for the veracity of the price that *I* paid in the forum :D . The point is - if you can get a price close to invoice for the car, destination, and dealer fee then you have a good price - for sure if you don't have to travel to get it. IF you do have enough dealers to compete for the deal then you may can get lower - but a lot of that depends on how many dealerships are around to compete and who owns them. Patience always serves a buyer well and waiting can often produce a better price - but if you find the current finance rate or lease rate to your liking the waiting could produce a lower price but higher financial numbers.
