Recommend this dealer? No Purchased a vehicle from this dealer? No, Poor experience with dealer personnel
We are looking for an A6 and emailed several dealerships with specifics. Steve Maltz at Tom Wood was the first to respond. He said they did not have what we were looking for, but they were getting one in about a week. We received a call when it arrived and scheduled a time to go test drive and purchase. When we arrived at the dealership, Steve told us that we could not purchase this particular car because it had been traded to another dealership, but we could test drive it. Needless to say, we felt blindsided. They should have informed us of this before we drove the 50 minutes to get there. It seemed very underhanded on their part. Steve took us to his desk and spent too much of our time trying to find another car with our specifications online - with no luck. He found one similar, but it wasn't what we had originally talked about. When you're about to spend $60K on a vehicle, you don't really want to settle for what is easiest for the dealer to get -- you want what you want. On top of everything, he had the audacity to ask us to put money down on a car that he found that was still on a ship with no specific time of arrival!!! We left feeling like the old "bait & switch" had been pulled, as well as feeling like we weren't important enough to consider our convenience with making us wait in our search for a week with the promise of a car only to be told that it had been traded in the mean time. The whole experience was a disappointment.
