My buying experience at Ray Skillman Westside Hyundai in Indianapolis was more than satisfactory. I wanted to drive three cars that Skillman sold (Mazda3, Kia Forte and Hyundai Elantra Touring). The salesman arranged for me to test-drive all three in one session. He also demonstrated thorough knowledge of the cars. Once I chose the Hyundai, he explained the sales process. I told him what I wanted to pay, including credit for my trade-in. He came back a few days later with a price about $1,600 higher and an offer to sell me a lower-level model. I told him I'd some up a few hundred, but nowhere near their price. Close to the end of the month, he called to say they'd meet my price. The day of the transaction, I discovered the dealership had added window-etching theft security and tacked the price of that service $250 onto the bill. I told the salesman that whatever they added would not change the price I would pay, so they took that charge off. No drama, no hassle. I was not financing, so the deal was easier to analyze. The car was delivered in perfect condition. The salesman has checked in every few weeks to see if I'm satisfied. My take: If you are a smart customer and keep an eye on the invoice lines, Skillman Hyundai West will respond with professionalism and an eye to future business.
