Congratulations on the purchase, zen2. The I4 would have given a bit more MPG, but I think you'll enjoy driving that powerful V6. It's nice to know, and feel, there's always power on tap when needed/wanted. Happy ownership!

Like most vehicles, the Sonata sunroof drops the headliner down roughly a couple of inches. It's most noticeable in the Sonata from the back seat. When sitting in the back seat and looking forward, you can see a noticeable drop in the headliner just in front of your face that continues all the way forward. -Ty

Nearly a $1,000 below invoice. Good job! In terms of the extra rebate this week, it's difficult to predict what the manufacturer is going to do, so don't beat yourself up over it. For all we know the rebate could become even more appealing next week, or disappear altogether. Forget about it and enjoy that new Sonata! -Ty

"Besides, if you buy a car from out of town, how does your local dealer know you didn't just move into town and started coming to them for service?" In this case, Zen2 has already visited the PA dealers and received quotes. They know Zen2 didn't just move into town already owning a Sonata. Sounds like your experiences have been different, but the dealers I have purchased vehicles from have certainly given me special treatment, with freebies and car loaners when they didn't have too. They've worked hard to make me a repeat buyer. Dealer service is obviously going to vary depending on the management and workers, but in talking with the establishments I've patronized, they readily admit to providing extra service for people who buy vehicles from them. Anyway, that's beside the point. My main argument was that Zen2 will still be serviced by the local dealers no matter where the car is purchased from, and Fitz has a good reputation for easy purchases at extremely aggressive rates.

I checked out Fitzmall when purchasing my Sonata, and I live in Utah. I called the sales department, and from what I could understand, the process is quite easy. Everything including financing can be set up online. I know several people on Edmunds who have purchased their vehicles through Fitz and now swear by them. Great place. The shipping from MD to UT is what killed it for me. About $1,300 in a closed container insured. Your local Hyundai dealer will provide service because it's a major revenue generator for them. However, they probably will not go "above and beyond" for you like they would if you purchased the car from them. My strategy was to take the Fitz quote to my local dealer and give them a chance to compete against it. -Ty

My wife and I purchased a steel gray 06 Sonata LX last night from Riverton Hyundai in Sandy, Utah. Price including $1,000 finance rebate and $1,000 customer cash rebate was $20,000 + TTL. We opted to not get package 3 because of headroom issues with the sunroof. We added a 10-year, 100,000-mile bumper-to-bumper Hyundai-backed warranty extension for $995. FYI: At 4:00 PM yesterday Hyundai increased the cash rebate from $500 to $1,000 for V6 Sonatas. -Ty
