I wish I knew exactly what package I had, they delivered the car without the window sticker which is apparently illegal, but unless I can figure out some benefit to me I don't think I'm going to dime them out. Not that I would know who to dime them out too... I did a build your own on the Hyundai website. 08 GLS AT with the 4 and the pop package came out at $19,520 before frieght, that was to Ak and I would expect frieght to TN would be less--$3K rebate is $16, 520, add 7% sales tax and you're right at $17, 676. Sounds like they are pretty close. We don't have sales tax in AK except for a few municipalities and they usually cap it at $15, that saved me 1100 right there, plus my DMV fees are $275 all inclusive and they didn't charge me a documentation fee. So, compared to my deal- $600 for the AT, $650 for the popular equipment package, $1156 for sales tax, I don't think you are going to do much better on the Sonata than what's offered. For reference, try this- http://www.hyundaiusa.com/ and use the build your own function. Hope this helps a bit. If you can find a "strippo" like mine, which is not even close to being a strippo, maybe you can get a better OTD. FWIW, the 5 spd really makes the car fun to drive. Honda and toyota may offer 5 speeds but I have never seen a 5 spd on a mid size car here, the local dealer does not order them so equipped.

Thanks for your help. I guess I needed to be more specific. The OTD 17680 blk 08 GLS AT V4 with popular package had only a mudguard that was different from the OTD 17000 wht 08 GLS AT V4 with popular package. The tax here in TN is 7% btw. The dealers here were saying that the difference between MSRP and invoice is only 700 since Hyundai sells alot to make profit. Also they kept mentioning that blk cars are more expensive which I have never heard before. They said this would be the best price ever. I don't know why the dealers here are so tough. I've been to four dealerships here and they are dealing at about the same price. What price should I be looking at before TTL given a 08 GLS V4 w/ popular package? Should I have dealt with price and not OTD? Thanks for your help guys.

That is a pretty good deal. I would also go half way for the leather. What state are you in? I was asking the dealers around here in TN and they said there are only 87 GLS out there in the states as of today! They are not even going into the 15k range with what they have. I must say I would definitely go for the leather seats 650 up.

we had the best luck when searching inventory on the internet. for example, we went to dealer in nashville, and they found a black '07 LTD FWD just like we wanted in knoxville, tn. they quoted us $35,795 drive off. I had already found it on the internet and knew that knoxville would sell it to me if i drove there for $33,100 drive off! Your auto can be found and there are deals to be made. I had best honest dealing by starting with the internet sales managers at dealerships like Atlanta GA Ed Voyles, Knoxville TN Twin Cities, and Louisville KY Oxmoor. These all appear to offer low prices and deal honestly. As to the Tribecca, we drove it also, but visibility seemed poor and the center console is oddly placed. My wife is 5'6" and when the driver's seat is correctly positioned for her, she can not rest her right arm on the center console or anything else--the console is actually directly beside and behind the drivers seat! If anyone in your family is 5'6" or so, be certain to drive it for a good period. I believe you might find this annoying as well. Also, in my experience, the Tribecca and Veracruz are not price competitive. The Tribecca was easily $3-4K higher when comparably equipped when we priced them. Good luck and let us know what you discover.

I was on a business trip in Louisville KY on monday and the dealership there had 6--count 'em--6 black hyundai veracruz ltd with various pkg, including 3 2007's with ultimate pkg on them. we had looked everywhere in TN where we lived for them. i looked at them on the way home, and they asked me what they could do to have me drive one back home that night, so we bought 2007 black ltd, black saddle,/ultimate package/rear dvd/cross roof rails for $28,649.68 sales price +$2,651.47 TTL +$698.85 Delivery and docs $32,000.00 drive off Sticker was $36,494.00 I believe Invoice was $34,051.00 A great deal using the $3,500.00 rebate, $1,000.00 additional dealer cash rebate, and a little more. Needless to say, we are very pleased and it was a joy to drive it home that night! That was a great dealership and there are evidently more bargains to be had there.
Which one would you buy?

I have a question I hope you all can advise me on. I have two sonata's I can buy. My question is which one would you buy? I'm having a tough time deciding which is the best deal. The first one is a 2007 sonata se with 7400 miles on it with leather, auto, v6, 17" alloy wheels and other goodies. I can get it for $16,000.00 OTD. The second one is a brand new 2008 gls 4 cyl, auto pretty much stripped down or just the usual way they come. I can get it for $15,877.00 plus tax, Lic, DOC fees, etc. I probably would be up to about 17, 500.00 OTD on it. DOC fees here in Nashville, TN at these two dealers are $500. The two biggest worries I have is why did the guy get rid of the one with just 7400 miles on it? It came from the auction. It's like new. The second worry I have is the timing chain tensioner problem. Would I still have to have the tensioner changed on the new 2008 one? Or did they take care of that for 2008? And I assume I would on the 2007 one. It makes no noise now. Of course I would lose the 10/100k warranty on the 2007 one. The 2007 is a 6 and the 2008 is a 4 cyl. I don't think there's that much difference in the gas mileage. Correct me if I'm wrong about that. I would be happy with either a 4 or 6. I'm really concerned about why the person got rid of it no matter what a carfax says. Or it could be a repo. If so did he run the heck out of it to get even? I'm just leary of that one but it's a good deal I think. Thanks for your input!
