Amen to the no payoff fee in PA brother! Yeah, Hallman's Hyundai in Erie, PA is great like that. I like their sales team... but the financing team can leave something to be desired! Although my credit rating is flawless, I was told that I "didn't make enough of a monthly income" to finance for 60 months at 5.9%. Instead, I was forced to finance for 72 months at 6.9%. This was after me handing them a hefty down-payment of $6200 cash!! Not bad for a 23 year old medical student eh? Keep that for 90 days?? I think not. When my HMFC customer number came in the mail, I called USAA (insurance, loan, and banking company for military personnel) and refinanced immediately at a rate of 5.7% for 60 months. I don’t plan on keeping the loan for that long, but that is to at least get me until May. After that, I don’t have to pay for food / housing for two years. The beauty of 3rd and 4th year of medical school – get an education from hospitals that offer room and board. Then, most of my Air Force stipend will go to paying off the principal of my loan. But anyway, that's beside the point. I just wanted to share a little more background information as to why I did NOT keep my loan with HMFC for 90 days. If Hallman's would've let me initially finance for 60 months at 5.9% I might not have refinanced at all! Oh well, sorry HMFC - I have to do what is right for me. docjosh
Re: Final result on GLS 4-cyl Package 4 [backy]

Backy, Just so you and everyone else knows, there is NO EARLY CANCELLATION FEE for refinancing or paying the loan off early. If Hyundai tries to send me one, I won't be paying it. There was NOTHING in my HMFC contract that I signed stating any element of time. So, EVERYONE, disregard what the dealerships tell you when you buy your new Sonata. Hallman's Hyundai in Erie told me that I had to wait 90 days to refinance my new Steel Gray Sonata LX w/ option 3 (moonroof and 6 cd changer). We all know what the 90 days was about - more money for them. So, buy your car and refinance as soon as you are in the system. It took me around 2 weeks until I got my info. Refinanced at a rate of 5.70% with USAA - better than 6.9% w/ HMFC. Good luck shopping all and Happy New Year (a little belated!). docjosh

P.S. - Remember my deal was out the door - after taxes, title, and my applicable rebates. See the breakdown on the previous page. Thanks!

Hello Everyone, I took everyone's advice... I called Cochran's in Pittsburgh - neither them nor Fitzgerald could offer me the same deal nor beat it. So I went into Hallman's Hyundai here last night and agreed to purchase the Steel Gray Sonata LX - $21,437.10. I was given 6.69% financing by HMA (this will only last for 7-10 days until I can refinance with USAA - United States Automobile Association for military personel and their families). They offered me 5.95% financing for 60 months. Not too bad for a 23 y/o male. Anyway, I just wanted to extend my gratitude to everyone here in these forums. Thanks for your insight and feedback. If anyone wants a good price on a hyundai with friendly service, visit Hallman's Hyundai in Erie, PA. Any questions, just ask. Until then, I'll be enjoying the drive... docjosh Also, I plan on trying to get a Hyundai hat out of the deal as well - anything for free advertising!

Okay lemonade2, here goes. Again, steel gray Hyundai Sonata LX with power moonroof and 6cd changer. It goes something like this: MSRP - $24,895.00 Amount I demanded based on 2 quotes - $2395= $22,500.00 Rebates - $2400= $20,100.00 Taxes, Title, Fees, etc (estimate because I don't have it in front of me) + ~$1476= $21,576.00 Their final offer after haggling - $139= $21,437.10 So there you have it... this is how I arrive at the "OUT THE DOOR" price of $21,437.10. Give me your feedback. docjosh
Feedback Encouraged!! What do you think??
by docjosh on Wed Dec 07 20:44:16 PST 2005
To all... I posted this in the general Hyundai Sonata LX forum as well. After Backy's input, I'm posting it here. Read and please tell me what you think. Steel Gray LX with package 3 (power moonroof and 6cd changer with subwoofer)! I wanted to hear feedback. The only feedback I got was from Tenpin288. Backy what do you think? Anyone else? If Cochran's won't give me a better price, should I stay with the $21,437.10 out the door with 5.69% financing (after applicable rebates - financing, LX rebate, and college graduate; taxes, title transfer, etc.)? Or should I wait?? Unless Cochran promises me something lower, I know that I will never get Hallman's Hyundai here in Erie to go for a lower price. We discussed the price for over an hour. What does everyone think? Sorry, this is a huge decision for me to make - hefty investment anyway. I just want to make the RIGHT one. Thanks for all of your thoughts in advance. Please keep in mind the price I list above would be my FINAL price - after taxes and everything. docjosh
