Re: Price on a fully loaded 2008 Azera Limited with nav [marcogallo1986]

I just bought a Limited w/Ultimate Package (but not navigation). It was $25,500 out the door (all tags, fees, taxes, etc.) One word of warning. I think my 2008 has the front end shudder. You can feel it around 40 and again around 70. I have increased tire pressure and it helped, but didn't eliminate it. From what I am reading, Hyundai has yet to find a way to address this and service managers simply say "I don't feel it". Mine has already been back for tire alancing - no change. When the dealership called for their sales experience survey, I informed them of this problem and never received a follow up call. The salesman called today to get the number of a prospective friend and customer. I shared the problem with him and he could not have been less interested. I called the friend/prospective buyer and warned him. No sese in two of us being carsick due to the vibration that no one else can feel. I have 1400 miles on the car and am already wondering how long it will be before I can trade it in.
Pleasant surprise

To me the biggest thing about buying a car is the variability of treatment you encounter from the dealerships. I know that where you are in the month and how desperate the dealership is to make its sales quota is a factor, but still it seems almost random how one buyer can have a nightmare experience haggling over every dollar, while another can have a great purchase even if not the most informed buyer. I'd imagine (based on some posts here) that both experiences could be had at the same dealership. As I related earlier this month, I fell into the latter category this time around. Yes, I typically research prospective major purchases to the nth degree, but frankly hadn't done much research on Hyundai's per se since I was more 'checking the box' of a test drive and establishing a baseline before moving onto more mainstream choices (Honda and Toyota). Three hours of test drives ('08 vs '09, I4 vs V6) later I appeared to have lucked into a 'too good to be true' deal on an '09 Sonata Limited V6 (priced $500 less than an '09 LImited 4 cylinder!) I went home and asked the Costco buyer's service for a quote which came in over $2500 higher, and thus rather than testing other makes (which at best would have been 'as good' but for waaay more money) went back to the dealership the next afternoon to seal the deal before that particular vehicle (the showroom demo) disappeared. Noticed that the "Internet price" (this was at Fitzgerald Auto mall) price on the car's sticker was $400 more than the current price on the Internet for the vehicle, and expected to be told the sticker was correct. Was told instead that 'of course' they'd go with the current 'Net price. Encountered only one half-hearted and almost perfunctory attempt to interest me in gap insurance or an extended warranty during closing, and then was out the door in the new car. (Going late in the day-- such that the mechanics of the purchase processed dragged beyond closing time-- may have accounted for some of the staff's eagerness to finish the deal and go home!) I guess that as in the rest of life you can be 'good' or 'lucky', but that doesn't make the experience any less frustrating. Karma probably dictates that I'll pay more that MSRP for my next car, so I'd better make this Sonata last! ;)

Denny Hecker's Hyundai of Inver Grove (I-494 & Robert/Hwy 3) is where I first saw the Santa Fe in Aug 2006 and where I got the best deal. I stopped there yesterday to get a squeaky window fixed and asked that they set the doors to lock when I reach 10 mph. I was used to that feature in my minivan and it's a safety issue that I forgot to have them do before I took delivery. They did both fixes right away while I had a hot dog, popcorn, soda and cookie in the customer lounge for lunch. They are building a Honda dealership next door after the old mom & pop car sales lot that was there was leveled. My Hyundai salesman said they are looking forward to prospective buyers crossing into their lot after seeing overpriced Hondas, so they expect many more Hyundai buyers.

Sounds good from a NY prospective. Keep in mind, we are MID-YEAR when prices change with many rebates. This is due to dealers must move cars to make room for the 2008's. Don't buy because you're in a bind. You will get a good price if you do your homework and are not afraid of walking out of the dealership. Remember, it's a game and they're experts at it. Now go get 'em.
Re: VERACRUZ LTD AWD [arumage]

I just took delivery of a loaded Veracruz Limited AWD with Ultimate package/saddle leather and cross rails on the roof rack. Sticker topped out at $38100 including freight. I paid $35709 or app. $400 above invoice and $2391 under sticker. I can guarantee that there is NOTHING in the current marketplace that can match the content level of this loaded Limited. The Veracruz is fresh and new. While there are new models arriving everyday, it's competition are tired, old bodystyles like the Murano, Pilot and Highlander (yawn). My dealer was anxious to earn my business, even driving the car 60 miles to deliver it earlier today. This is a well designed and well built vehicle. While I admit it was a leap of faith for a Honda guy like me to buy a vehicle from the other H-word, I couldn't justify selecting any of the Japanese competition, at least with what is available now. I'll report back after we've logged some miles in the VC. Prospective CUV's buyers-do not discount this brand when building your shopping list.

I don't think they're saying they are demos. I think they are just saying that any of their cars may be driven by prospective buyers. I doubt any Hyundai dealers have dedicated demos. They're not that high-line.
