2008 Hyundai GLS W/XM Manual $14400 OTD
by zcore on Thu Oct 04 18:18:54 PDT 2007
Found a dealer who matched the rebate price I would have got on an 07. Gave me mudguards and carpet mats... 2008 White GLS MT for $14400 OTD on 9/30/07 (No rebates) 1 other dealer matched the price. Another offered me $15500 OTD (rebate included) for an 07. He said there was "No Way" I'd get an 08 for $14400 That I'd get to the dealership and they'd bump it up on me. Dealership was honest and true. Southern States in Raleigh, NC. Does anyone know how much the extended warranty should go for? It doesn't really seem necessary. Also how much should oil changes cost? Thanks, Z.

I've been speaking to a salesman at Bob King (still haven't received an internet response for 2 days) and the best they'll do for me on a white 07 Limited w/cross rails and ultimate package is $31,000 plus tax (3% in NC), tags & $499 doc fee. A dealer in Fayetteville quoted a silver 07 Limited w/ultimate package and black/saddle for $30,600 plus tax, tags & $299 doc fee so it's a $600 savings but I'm not sure about that color combination (Silver/Black Saddle - it's a little weird combo,to me, in the photos I've seen) so I'm going to drive down from Raleigh and look at it. We're looking at buying on Friday if I can make up my mind between price and color. Surprisingly, the Raleigh dealer has a guarantee posted that they'll beat any price with a buyer's order but the salesman we were working with said it was too low for them. Is it okay to go through the internet after you've already worked with a saleman on the phone (if you can get them to email you back)? I'm tempted to try Winston Salem again through Edmunds - I used the dealer's website when I emailed them.
Seeking purchase advice on Santa Fe Ltd AWD (w/ XM?) + Touring Package
by psc180 on Fri Aug 17 10:27:09 PDT 2007
Hi All, I am looking to buy a 2007 Santa Fe Ltd AWD with the Touring Package (Option 31 - 3rd row only, no sun roof) in the NYC/Westchester Co. area. Edmunds TMV says: MSRP: $29,915 Invoice: $28,125 What Others are paying: $28,858 minus $1,000 rebate = $27,858 This is my first time buying a new car. I bought a used Honda Accord (V6) 7 years ago and will not be trading it in. I did a test-drive of a SF AWD Ltd. a few weeks ago and a sales person (in Westchester Co., NY) simply quoted MSRP to me. Yesterday, when I telephoned a sales person from a different dealership (in Rockland Co.) and told him I'd be coming in tomorrow (Saturday) or Sunday, he told me that: "You can get that S.F. (Ltd, AWD, w/ Touring) for "26 and change" which includes the $1,000 rebate. And the MSRP on that car would be $29,000. That would not include motor vehicle, which is about $200, and taxes, which are 8.675% in your area, on $26,000." I know that I have to find out the salesperson's exact number (and that "26 and change" is not specific enough). But assuming we use, say, $26,300, by my calculations, the 8.675% tax on $26,300 would be $2,281 (right?). So, it would be $26,300 + $2,281 (tax) + $200 (motor vehicle) = $28,781. So, here are my questions (forgive me . . . I'm a newbie at this): Is $28,781 the "Out the door" number that people on this forum are using? Also, if that is the OTD price, is it a good price? If not, what do you think is the best price I can get? Should I negotiate down on the "26 and change price" or just say that "with taxes and fees, I'd like the OTD price to come in at about "X amount"? And what would that amount be (say, $27,000??)? Does anyone know of a dealership they'd recommend that's within about 15 miles of Westchester County, N.Y.? Also, if I plan to put down about $5,000 and finance the rest, any recommendations about terms and rates? What is Hyundai offering, generally, in terms of financing? Or should I finance through a bank? Also, is the XM radio a standard feature on all Limiteds at this point (I remember reading that XM became standard sometime in the past few months) or do I need to check to see if I am being charged extra for that? (Salesperson told me it was standard.) Has anyone ever gotten the dealer to throw in the floor mats (without paying the approx. $85 that they're listed for)? 2 final questions, though not related to price: A different salesperson (from the Raleigh, NC area) told me last week that the AWD automatically shuts off after the car reaches 35 MPH. Has anyone heard of that and is it true? And, has anyone felt a slight vibration coming up through the bottom of the driver's seat while driving? Thanks!
Also bought a VC LTD FWD in NC

Very grateful for this website and info shared! Otherwise, I would not have considered a Hyundai Veracruz. Bought my VC from an out of town dealer since dealers here are unwilling to match, and this is not even the best offer out there. None of them has AWD in the lot even though that's what I wanted. 2007 Hyundai VC Limited FWD w Floor Mats, & First Aid Kit: MSRP $33,140 OTD $30,100 Bob Dunn Ford/Hyundai in Greensboro, NC No balloon financing, no competitive rebate, paid in full. I stick on my Garmin Nuvi while driving home (80 miles from the dealership), it works fine so don't feel bad about the lack of Navi system. It was a very smooth pleasant highway drive. :shades: Unfortunately I found an almost microscopic nick in the second row leather seat. With the perforated leather, I worry that it will tear even though it's small. The manager at the dealer said that I have to have the leather repaired back in Greensboro, it cannot be done at Chapel Hill, Cary, or Raleigh. That's a long trip back :( Thanks again and good luck with the rest of you.
Santa Fe in NC

Southern States in Raleigh, NC: Great experience until the business office: located us an AWD, Limited, Touring, Ultimate loaded car. Great price, etc. Then: Business manager pressured on the extended warranty for $1700: Said: 1. The factory warranty is very 'limited', 2. if you do any work on the car yourself you'll void the manuf. warranty, and 3. he asked my wife how much she drove per year - her answer of 25K resulted in his saying that could be considered excessive and void the factory warranty thus we really should buy the extra warranty. Geeeeeeeeeez. Then as I wrote the check he pushed their financing saying that it's a bad mistake to pay cash for a car! Just offering us his professional advice. I would have walked out but the wife is too nice. Great dealership (sales at least) until this step in the process.
Good price on Elantra
by delaluz on Wed Mar 22 17:14:36 PST 2006
I just bought a 2006 elantra GLS hatchback with 5 speed, sun roof and abs package, mats, and a cargo net. Out the door price in Raleigh NC with tax a license was $13,400 (this included the $500 loyal customer rebate and a $1,000 rebate. Note; NC tax on new cars is 3% I think. I bought it from Southern States Hyundai. I got a price from Fairfax Hyundai in Va. I was prepared to take the train up there and drive back. I emailed the Southern States sales person & said that if he matched the Fairfax price I would buy from them. They emeiled me back in an hour and matched the deal.
