Re: 08 Sonata GLS V6 [backy]

I'm thrilled to say that my experience picking up the promised floormats concluded with no excitment or drama whatsoever; the salesman was very accomodating and the mats were the correct color! I've read the "get it in writing" horror stories so I was very relieved when there was no trouble with this final piece of my purchase. Now I can fully enjoy my Sonata. I didn't ask them to enable the auto-lock feature; I'm still getting used to the vehicle and will probably decide to have that done in the next few months. Thanks for the tip, though!

On Saturday I purchased a 2008 GLS V6 from Henderson Hyundai here in Las Vegas. It was my second time buying a new car, and the information from this forum and the carbuyingtips website has been extremely helpful. I did not have a trade, and decided to negotiate based on the OTD price to avoid getting blindsided with unexpected fees during the haggling phase. I was shooting for $19,100 OTD, they offered $20,150 and after some back and forth (and me almost getting into my car to leave) we agreed on $19,300 including floormats. I uploaded the final price breakdown to my carspace album in the hopes that it will help people new to the process know what to expect and what to look for: Sales Order (Sales tax here is 7.75%) Also, here is the sticker showing the MSRP and standard equipment: Dealer Sticker Of course, the parts dept. was closed by the time we finished the deal so I'll be going back on Monday to pick those up. If that goes smoothly, I will be fairly satisfied with the experience. Thanks again to this forum and Edmunds for all your help!

I bought my 2007 AWD SE w/ touring pkg, last Feb for about $25,500 (AFTER $1000 REBATE). Not including tax, Lic etc. Out the door here does not mean much here since the registration on new vehicles is really expensive! . The registration is based on the MSRP of the car! sales tax=7.3/8% Registration= $550, (You have to go to DMV yourself) The Misc BS totaled about $600 (which I promptly put a line thru).. .Told them it was a deal killer, packed up my stuff, check book first, it was then that they agreed to remove it . Luckily my credit is quite good and they figured I wasn't kidding!!!! I think that $$$ was for advertising and 'make dealer ready" etc (probably included a single cup of coffee too, with creme being A LA CARTE!)"). Told them they could pay for their own advertising. Figured I had pretty much reached "that point" and I wanted that car!!!!!! Oh, I guess that also included them taking the nplastic off the seats too LOL. I know I paid a bit too much, but you had to consider the time of year, w/snow on the ground, and that the Santa Fes were selling well + west coast pricing! I knew better too...ya never buy a 4 wheel drive anything during winter in Reno, NV I got lucky, since it snowed a couple of days later and there were no 4 wheel drives around for any price!!. I only got to drive the SF two times before it melted but if I recall, it really handled well...NO SKIDDING AT ALL, (that stability control was great! in about 6 inches of snow....it went exactly where you pointed it, no matter what. I had a Mini Cooper that also has=d ESD...good but nothing as good as this was...The Mini only saw snow once since it stayed in its own garage bay for the winter! MY GARAGE TOY! I live on a side st in the burbs, and we usually have snow up to a foot or so high before a plow shows up (or I should say...IF THEY SHOW UP!). Ya need the 4 WD to make it into the garage under most conditions! ;) As soon as it snows here, prices go up as do the dealer's willingness to "talk". Hell, they put the "dealer add" ticket on next to the factory one and usually start there as a sell price. There is ONE street in town that most of the dealers are located on...right now you can shoot bowling balls down it....lots of trucks for sale...no buyers! If it snows early, that will reverse VERY soon!
Looking for AWD Limited
by johnstcd on Thu Jul 19 23:25:50 PDT 2007
Scout, I wish I had better news, but we've been waiting for an AWD in Beige or Bronze Limited for 3 weeks with no hope from our local dealer and the "port search" has no results so far. The reality from our perspective is the Veracruz is in high demand, and AWD is even worse unless you live in the NE...or so our dealer tells us and seems true from our own internet searches/calls (AZ/CA/NM//NV/TX/CO). We are looking for an AWD/Limited in Bronze/Beige (don't care about if it has or does not have 05/06 package) and our dealer can not locate a Veracruz for us. BUMMER. I think you may be in for a long wait unless you are willing to go down to a GLS or other.
