Most dealers will charge you a few dollars for an in transit permit. You have 30 days to take the vehicle to your home state to register it and pay the local sales tax.

The main problem with the Chrysler electronic trans was the way it shifted. It also gave a little thump when downshifting to the low gear after a full stop. I have had no trans problems on my caravan after 130k miles. I have several friends with Hyundai's and they have no complaints about their quality.

Probably because an SE with MT is not a very popular car. ATs are much more popular in this kind of car. But someone in Houston will get a really good deal! The difference between the one SE in Houston and advertised Internet prices at dealers like Towne and Fitzmall is that there's many cars at those prices, vs. a "loss leader" to draw traffic, which the ad in Houston appears to be. Unless they offer nearly $6000 off list on all their other Sonatas?

$14k + T&L would be extraordinary for a Sonata with AT, even for Towne Hyundai. Invoice on the least expensive 2008 Sonata with AT is $18,758. $4000 off that is $14,758--which is really a great price for a car like that, IMO. Consider that kind of money could also buy something like a fairly basic Yaris or a base Fit with MT. You could probably get a MT Sonata for $14k + T&L, and in fact Fitzmall is advertising one of those right now for around $13.6k.
Re: Price Quote from Capitol Hyundai, Kyle, TX [worldly]

You should let them know that you'll be buying elsewhere e.g. Houston or Round Rock, because their price isn't competitive. But be sure you compare apples to apples, e.g. the price from Houston or Round Rock of a GLS with AT, since that is what Capitol Hyundai quoted. The AT alone adds about $1000 to the cost. Sometimes I've seen dealers advertise the MT Sonata as a loss leader, i.e. one only, knowing it won't be very popular, at a drastically reduced price. Also be sure the options are comparable on the quoted cars.
