Re: Think maybe I will buy rather than lease [fred144] by mrbizness1 on Tue Jan 24 16:07:12 PST 2012

Thanks for the info. I talked to a friend and he said the same thing. He leases a Altima with zero down every three years and does virtually no repairs. The dealer adds make leasing seem so simple so I guess I will have to do a little more homework before I visit a dealer.

I have never leased a vehicle before and after reading all this stuff like money factors, residuals etc: I think it will be easier to just but a vehicle.

Re: Selling prices are dropping [tturbo] by backy on Tue Dec 06 15:47:26 PST 2011

I wasn't taking it personally. I was disagreeing with your post. Also I tend to think of MT as a "major auto publication". YMMV. I am also looking at the Focus and Elantra as candidates for my next car, but others as well e.g. Accent and Impreza. Hard to beat $17.3k MSRP for a pretty well-equipped, good-looking, economical, roomy car like the Elantra GLS 6MT. (Although the Accent GS is about $2000 less and has hatchback utility... which the Focus and Impreza offer also but for more bucks). Not looking for a Gen coupe as I do need a usable back seat sometimes. But that would be fun.

http://www.hyundaiusa.com/elantra/features.aspx shows AC as optional on the GLS, which is also the only trim that offers the MT.

My math by odessit771 on Sat Jul 09 10:47:45 PDT 2011

Please let me know if I do math correctly: Let's say that: MSRP is 20400 and I negotiated down to 20200 Money Factor is .00015 Residual is 56% 12k per year / 36 mts Then: 1. 20400*.56=11424 (car worth after 3 years) 2. 20200-11424=8776 (I will use that value) 3. 8776/36=244 (w/o interest or tax) 4. (20200+11424)*.00015=4.74 (interest) 5. 244+4.74=248.74 (with interest) 6. 248.74*.08= 268 (with tax) Also, from where do I subtract loyalty rebate?
