2009 Sonata 4-Cyl Limited w/Nav
by cvs8floz on Tue Jan 06 09:05:32 PST 2009
Took delivery of a 2009 Sonata 4-Cyl Limited PZEV w/Nav purchased from Mirak Hyundai in Arlington, MA yesterday, Jan 5, 2009. Sticker price on vehicle was: $24,150 base price + $1,250 Nav System + $90 floor mats + $85 sunroof wind deflector + $695 freight = $26,270 total sticker price. I noticed that the base price for this vehicle currently listed on the Hundai website is $400 higher ($24,550) than the one on the car I got!! It looks like Hyndai must have increased its pricing at some point, you might want to pay attention to this fact when you pick out your vehicle and try to find the one with the lower sticker price! I'd like to know if other people have noticed a similar discrepancy and if there is an explanation for it. I traded in a 2002 4-Cyl Honda Accord EX with 82,500 city miles in fair condition. Hard to know exactly what I got for the trade, but after talking to the salesman at Mirak and at other dealerships I figure it was $5,000 max. After all the negotiations were done, I ended up getting $8,108 off (including the value of the trade-in) in addition to the $2,000 rebate, for a final purchase price of $16,162. With the 5% Mass sales tax of $808, reg/title fees of $75 and a document prep fee of $285, the grand total came to $17,330. I don't know if this is the absolute best price I could have gotten, there are 3 other Hyundai dealers in the Greater Boston area but Mirak is by far the closest to my house and I plan to get the car serviced there. The shopping experience was low pressure and pleasant enough. I did not get quotes from any other Hyundai dealers. I test-drove the Altima and considered the Fit, but ruled out the new Accord, Camry, Mazda6, Malibu because these cars have gotten too big and I park on city streets. I figure any of these models similarly equipped would have cost about $5,000 more. If the Sonata turns out to be reliable, it will seem like I got a bargain.
Elantra GT Hatchback - Arlington - MA [dancingdesert #557]

Nicely done indeed. Buying from Fitzgerald I feel like I got a great price, but only getting $200 on my trade was a bit sobering. I can't blame them, though. A '95 Sonata with 153k on it isn't going to bring customers stampeding to their used car department.
I paid $3351 for Elantra GT Hatchback - Arlington - MA
by dancingdesert on Tue May 18 12:39:35 PDT 2004
Hi, I paid $13351+Tax+Tag+Title, for Elantra GT, no sunroof, no ABS. The dealer looks OK. Although Fitzgerald Mall (Maryland) has no haggle price of $13000, but I think I got good value for my trade in - so basically it comes down to the same value.
Pricing for GT?
by bluegill on Mon Oct 14 11:39:00 PDT 2002
(I posted this over in the GT forum but suppose it belongs here instead) I've finally found a dealer that has some 2002 GT's in stock. I've been quoted by Mirak Hyundai in Arlington MA a total price including destination for a 2002 Carbon Blue w/pkg 10 $13,050. (5 spd) The same car with same options in a 2003 was quoted for $14,388. What if any difference is there between these 2 cars? I know the $1250 rebate factors in but is there any signifigant benefits by buying a 03 over the 02? Have there been some issues that may have been corrected on the 03? The only noticable difference I can tell is the addition of the rear spoiler lip. Another dealer quoted me about 13925 for a 2003 with pkg 6(sunroof) but that sems way too low....I have a feeling I'd make the trip out there and that price would go away....you know the games they play. I really, really liked the one I drove at auto Fair which was a Carbon Blue 03 with ALL the toys except for auto and there price was approx 15.3K. The clutch felt great compared to the other GT I drove and there was no notchy feeling in the shifter. That was as low as they would go. They actually told me to buy the one at RT2 at that price as it is a steal and the dealer would be losing his ass basically. What to do....what to do.... Don't want to make a 1500 dollar mistake but don't want to miss out on maybe getting some upgrade in the 03 that I will regret in a few years.... Man I think way too much into this :)

by ajenkins23 on Wed Jun 19 17:07:28 PDT 2002
For anyone in the Boston area who is looking for a 5-speed GT, I know that Mirak Hyundai in Arlington, MA are supposed to be getting a pewter 5-speed GT in the next few weeks. One of the salesmen (Ken) called me yesterday to tell me cause he knew I had been looking for one. I was able to tell him that I already have one but thought I would pass on the info to anyone who is looking for one.
