Carbuyer, thanks for the information, it definitely is appreciated. Sounds like you didn't have to wait to get yours sent or anything, just had to make a drive to Charlottesville. How did your price come in? We went looking last night (In Columbia, MD) and they had only one Limited on the lot and about 4 GLS (no SE's). Can you clue me in also, what are the main differences between the Limited and SE with leather?
your mileage may vary, but...

...I can say that a dealer in Gaithersburg, MD (Fitzgerald) is selling base GLS autos for $11,900-$12,100, it looks like depending on how long they've been on the lot, plus tax/tags/title but including freight and $99 dealer processing. I had a really good experience getting my '04 GT hatch from them for $12,806 (including tax/tags/title, freight, dealer proc, and the 100k bumper-to-bumper extension) back in April, when the $2k rebate was in effect. You may be thousands of miles away, but there are good deals to be had regardless, I'm sure. What's your location? Chances are someone around here might be able to help.
stick/auto - and my new car!

feelthesin, thanks for the advice. Ended up going with the manual; I grew up in the DC area, and now living in Columbia SC, what they consider "traffic" is a nice drive on a weekend for me. Picked it up yesterday! Sterling 5s hatch, no options... I forget the final exact numbers, but they had the car itself for $11,622 + $99 dealer processing (including 2k rebate). I extended the bumper-to-bumper out to 100k for $859 (backy - hope this helps). Total out-the-door was just over $12,800, financed at 3.49% through my credit union including gap protection. Fitzgerald, in Gaithersburg, MD. Google 'em for the website; they post sick-low prices online and don't play around. Salesman was my age (24), finance guy was cool, sales manager made everything easy, they're gonna get good feedback on the survey. A side note: having a patient salesman makes all the difference. I hadn't driven a stick more than around a parking lot, and when I laid rubber and peeled out of the dealership lot (oops) he was totally cool with it. Guess I'd already made it clear that I was buying the car and the test drive was a formality.
