$15,844 out the door for '09 GLS stick
by willyb1264 on Sat May 24 17:52:08 PDT 2008
Today I bought a Bright Silver/Gray '09 GLS stick for $14,995 including doc fee plus tax and title at Rowe Hyundai in Westbrook, ME. I probably could have done better out of state but I wanted to deal locally. They threw in free car washes for life and the "Warranty Forever" lifetime powertrain warranty administered by NWAN.
Entourage SE with Premium package
by mknight on Fri Jun 15 09:53:28 PDT 2007
Just bought one yesterday. Entourage SE with Premium package (P) and floormats. $27,970 MSRP. Price paid with rebate was $22,995 before doc fees, taxes, etc. Even adding the $2500 rebate back in, that's $25,495 price paid when Edmunds is listing dealer invoice at $26,538. Dealer sold at $1043 under invoice. They did get $349 doc fee added back in, and paid $500 for our trade, a 94 chevy lumina apv which will probably go to wholesale auction. I figure some dealer holdback moneys coming back from Hyundai in there somewhere. --Mike
I've been HAD--Any recourse?
by pud2 on Fri Dec 21 20:14:51 PST 2007
I picked up my new 08' SE Sonata this evening, is a V-6, did not get the "Premium" package. Anyhow, negotiated the deal a couple of evenings ago, wanted the DK. Cherry Red color. Sales person and my wife and I there together. After a bit of haggling(relatively "easy going") we ALL agreed on a price of $21,000 EVEN, after rebate, before taxes--approved by sales manager. To be financed at the 0% rate. They tell me they would have to do a dealer exchange, but no problem, they found what I want, will have it at dealership in 24-48 hrs. Cool, or so I thought. I wait most of next day, was supposed to hear from dealership with status.(Big Virginia dealer we are talking about here)--I hear nothing, so at about 3:00PM, I call...My sales lady is not in, talk to other sales man, who ask's me, "So when did she say we will have it"? (He knows NOTHING about sale). I tell him the 24-48 hour bit, he says "Oh, ok, I will make SURE it is here tomorrow afternoon"(guess it will be 48 hours). Now, I am beginning to have the "warning lights" going off in my head. So, I call next MORNING about 10:00am, to check status on car, which is supposed to be in that afternoon...guess what, now NETHER salesperson I have talked to is in..and sales manager has to "check" and see.She knows nothing about said promised delivery, and tells me " I wasn't here yesterday, I do not know what happened"---anyone here ever hear of leaving a note or email with the management people? Make a long story short, at 6:00 PM, my car is still 4 and 1/2 hour drive away, and dealer's pick-up person has not even arrived there yet! Now I discuss with the sales manager a time on the THIRD day to pick up my Sonata,,,set up 4:00PM this afternoon---I figure they have to have it done by then...! I get there car, looks good, we go in to finish paperwork. I am now working with #2 sales guy I talked to the day after my agreement with sales lady to buy car.(you following?) We do his paper stuff, then I go to finace guy. When we did the "agreement" for the $21,000 price, the payment ended up being $300 a month @ 72 months. Finance guy is whizzing through paperwork, and tells me payments are $317.00 a month. I say, "not right, suppose to be $300.00 a month"--Also tell him, I do not have my reading glasses, so check out the problem. He runs numbers on his computer, says "no, I do not know where she(sales lady) got $300 a month", it is $317.00 So, I in my GULLIBLE, NON-READING mind, say "OK, she messed up, $17 a month is not going to kill me. And sign contracts where shown by finance guy. I drive home in new car, happy, get inside, read contract....AND FIND THEY HAVE CHARGED ME $22,220 BEFORE taxes etc...on a car that was AGREED UPON TO HAVE COST $21,000!!!!! I call sales manager, she AGAIN gives me this "I wasn't here---she(my sales lady) must have made a mistake....! No mistake, it was an agreed upon price by sales person, the sales manager on that night, and myself. I am fit to be tied now-- can I do anything at all to get them to honor what was agreed upon? ANYTHING? Been home 3 hours with my new car, and am sorry I ever decided to even LOOK at a new vehicle! Sorry for the length--any good lawyers here? Pud
mpuzach ...apologies

Hello mpuzach I thought I erased that post of mine...you must have gotten it just before it was deleted. After I re-read your response...I plainly misunderstood it! Your knowledge and comments here have helped everyone out IMHO including ME!!!! I have owned my AWD SE since last jan and have never regretted my purchase. So far it has been oil changes, the TSB for ambient temp readouts (which I learned about here!)and the infamous dome light Mod from Hyundai (in other words...pretty reliable so far......Never thought I would own a Hyundai but I am sold so far. Heck, Honda, Toyota, and Nissan do you a favor just talking to you! The Hyundai Dealership is still very hungry. AND IT IS A LITHIA DEALER TO BOOT! I like the Hyundai better then their competing models (test drove em all) and saved a bunch too! Best bang for the buck IMHO! This board gets a big thumbs up as well! A tight knit group of helpful owner/posters!!!! :) regards Jeff

hi Mike: Thank you...again! I am going to do a bit of research. )(SOUNDS LIKE WE BOTH ARE AFTER PRETTY MUCH THE SAME THING, especially the keeping the stock look!)....USED TO ENJOY THE BRIGHTER SOUND OF POLK IN MY..... ERRR..... YOUNGER DAYS! Our CC is a bit of a butcher, AND SPECIALIZES IN INSTALLING "PAVEMENT CRACKERS" Ya know...a $400 car with a $3000 STEREO.....and $12,000 loan on it! :P but if you think it is worthwhile and effective...will definitely check it out. I do not think the "normal HMC STEREO" IS SO BAD, BUT A LITTLE KICKER WOULDN'T HURT....especially keeping $$ vs value in perspective! The newer systems oems are supplying stock are not bad at all, AND THE AFTER MARKET STUFF LOOKS LIKE &*%$# TO ME. I am not willing to give up the look but like you want just a tad more umph! SINCE I USUALLY GET BORED AND BUY SOMETHING NEW EVERY FEW YEARS, I AM NOT GOING TO DESTROY THE LOOKS OF MY SF, (or spend an absurd amt of $$ on the Upgrade). THIS May mark a turning point for me though...I really LIKE THIS VEHICLE SO FAR, ASSUMING NOTHING STRANGE HAPPENS....So far, It is looking good! My Ex- Supercharged MINI(REALLY LOADED TOO..too much fun for a car and really BADLY engineered just lile BMW IMHO :lemon: ) started that way then it began to hit the fan.(under WARRANTY tg!)..so I was lucky to get out when I did, in one piece (it was actually more fun than my old trusty 1981 Porsche Targa!...Quality no, fun yes!). I traded a 2005 Honda Element w/ under 7000 mi for it...Figured WTF it was goofy but worked when I needed it to! I traded a 2004 Audi A4 for that (sludge bucket turbo,, but fun driver...I also like my cars! Thanks again. Will have to see what the total will be vs the net gain in pleasure...STILL WOULD TRADE IT ALL FOR A GOOD INPUT FOR THE iPOD/gps SETUP BUT WITH THE sf. nOT COMPLAINING! Honestly for under 25K, the Santa Fe has my attention.... JEFF

to answer your questions: IS $24,900 before or after tax? WE DON"T HAVE A SALES TAX HERE. How did you move cash from credit card to checking account?. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH SEVERA; CREDIT CARD COMPANIES AND THEY WILL TRANSFER FUNDS INTO YOUR CHECKING ACCOUNT AND CALL THAT A "BALANCE TRANSFER". THIS IS NOT CALLED A CASH ADVANCE BECAUSE IT IS NOT IMMEDIATE, AS IT TAKES SEVERAL DAYS. BE CAREFUL AND READ SMALL PRINT, AS SOME BANKS CHARGE YOU A PERCENT OF THE BALANCE AS A FEE, SO IT COULD BE $700. THE OFFER I GOT IN THE MAIL FROM WELLS FARGO WAS ZER FEE FOR TRANSFER AND PURCHASES IN THE FIRST 12 MONTHS. AND PAYMENTS ARE ONLY 1% OF BALANCE--SWEET! I CALLED MANY COMPANIES AND COULD NOT GET THIS DEAL AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT SHOWED UP IN MY MAIL BOX. LUCKY! I HAVE TAKEN THE $35,000 (ALL THAT THEY WOULD GIVE ME) AND PLACED IT IN A CAPITOL ONE COSTCO MONEY MARKET EARNING 5.22 APY. YES, THERE ARE SOME CDS NOW THAT ARE 5.46, BUT I LIKE THE LIQUIDITY OF THE CD.
