This is a follow-up to my previous post from 5/31. I was orginally quoted $14742 for the base SE auto. I went to another dealer since my previous one was out of SEs. This new dealer (Elgin, IL) had an auto SE for $18115 sticker with $180 or so in options (floor mats, cargo net, and wheel locks). They would barely move from the $14742. They actually wouldn't move from that amount plus the $180 in options. I was able to get it for $14700 plus TTL. They kept on telling me they were not even making money on the deal. I was sick of hearing that! I even told him if he says that one more time, I'm leaving. I think I got a pretty good deal. I know it's not fair to compare sometimes, but I see some people paying $1K+ more for the same car. Good luck to everyone out there in the market. It does seem like the SEs are very limited right now out there. The 2 biggest dealers around me only have 1 each- and that's from having over 7 last week. I also paid cash so no financing- that was nice!

I have been shopping for Santa fe Limited + Premium package+ 3rd row seat for last three weeks. I got a very good quote of 24010+TTL from Elgin Hyundai over the internet. I immediately went there to grab it but the manager refused to give it at that price saying there might have some miscommunication about the options.. even though every email we exchanged had the options I wanted listed specifically. I was very disappointed for the 3 hrs we wasted. The sales guy replied later that he miswrote the email he first sent to me and kept apolozising.. Anyways.. Finally I went to Gartner Hyundai in Aurora which is closer to my home and got it for 24800 +TTL. The initial quote he gave me was 24999. So, he came down only 200 but I knew it was a good price.. so I didn't haggle much.. Here is my package Santa fe 2007 2WD Limited + Premium package + 3rd row =24800 Paint, rust, leather , Spill protection = 599$ 10 yr/ 100,000 extended bumper to bumper warranty = 975$ + Taxes and Title OTD price was 28,300 Overall experience at gartner Hyundai was very very good

We went to Elgin Hyundai, IL for buying the car. The dealer started with a confident price quoting it incredibly low at $17,900. We simply told him that we read on the internet blogs that other are getting it for $16,500 and added that with the power of the internet, we know you can do it. Next thing I know - he went to his manager came back 15 minutes later and said "You have the deal $16,500+TTL it is" for the GLS Sonata Sports package. Got the gas filled up gave us the keys and we were very pleased with the deal. The total after taxes was $18M after rebate. :shades: Didn't have to haggle much.. just talk smooth, calmly and explain how the internet has open information on these things. :D The whole experience was very pain-free and pleasant. The sales-rep was happy... the manager was very pleasant to talk to... and he came over and talked very nicely. Overall it was really exceptionally good unlike the first time when I bought the car in 2003.
