Re: Is this a fair deal? (08 Elantra) [backy]

I am actually driving to NY tommorow right near NJ so this would be perfect yet that deal says it expires on 2/23. I wonder if they will still allow this deal. If anyone knows for sure id appreciate a reply. Thank you so much for pointing out this dealership!!

Backy, bhmr, howard seem to know a lot more than this little guy BUT Id guess it has something to do witht he massive amount of buyers in the area and there being a few wholesale places that supply that demand. Some So.Cal people raved about gettting amazing deals there....and that region also fits the bill.

bhmr, backy, howard, and all,...thanks for all the advice. ive given up on the 0 percent and rebate together...figured it was worth a try.... been offered 16,950 OTD for a base GLS from Towne. Now the fun stuff comes. I really hoped to get lower than that, around the 16400 mentioned earlier. It doesnt seem like much of a difference from your deal, but yours was an 07 (Id love the SE extra lumbar support is all :( ) Anyone know what the cost of a sonata 08 truly is for the dealer?
Re: Beware of National Customer Service. [buco]

Here is link to Yahoo reviews. http://local.yahoo.com/details?id=33666482 I have heard great things about purchasing through Costco. My friend purchased a 2006 Ford F-250 King Ranch Edition and saved way more than any dealer was offering at the time. I still think that Hyundai is producing a great product. This is our second Santa Fe. We never had a single problem with our 2004 which our daughter now owns. My beef is with the dealer and national customer service. Hyundai consumer affairs is a farse. It's there in name only. This has nothing to do with customer service unless your car has a mechanical or safety defect. And now I'm wondering if they would back you on those issues. I will never purchase another Hyundai product because of thier lack of consumer protection or backing. Before all this happened we were giving serious consideration to trading in our other car and buying an Azera. Not anymore. They have lost all perspective of reality when a $186 repair bill stands between good customer service and future sales. We will continue to drive our Santa Fe but I will not let this issue die. This is just another example or corporate America crapping on the consumer because they can.

Hi guys. Well im pretty close to getting a car. Maybe the next few weeks here. I went into the hyundai dealership because i seen the have AWESOME financing deal of 0% for 72 months + 500 cash back. I go in looking for a 08 Sonata V6 Limited with a moonroof. The only one the had was white which i wouldn't want. Id want either silver or grey. I went in there with a price in mind what i wanted to pay for the car 22.5k. They of course said they couldn't get me this price and tried normal dealer tricks of giving me the most they could for my trade in and then charging me 25.5k for the sonata and then showing my payments would be only $338 a month (which im sure a lot of people fall for) but im not that stupid smile.gif. Ive seen a hyundai dealership in ohio sell pretty much what im looking for for pretty close to 22.5k. I guess my reason for this thread is to ask you what is a "safe" price to ask for this car but a price that, for the most part, dealers would accept. Is my asking price of 22.5k way to low? What would you consider to be in the safe range for what im looking at? If i am going to get a sonata i definitly want to get in this deal before the end of the year because i will get $500 cash back on my offer to them and then 0% for 72 months which is just awesome. Any help would be appreciated. thanks, ncage

I had to do the same for my Avalon, although it was only 90 miles. None of the 4 New Orleans dealers even replied. This was back in 2004; maybe it's different now. It looks like things have gotten worse for Toyota's in the Gulf States region as far as I'm concerned. The wife would really like me to get another Toyota, since they are a pretty known quantity and we had a very bad experience with a Mazda luxury car in the mid-90's. OTOH, the Toyota prices are outrageous in Texas and La. because Gulf States limits choices to a few preselected packages containing lots you don't need to get what you want. I only really want Stability Control and would like leather and heated seats (even in the Gulf South, they are sometimes nice). Had to get them as a package in 2004, but they turned out nice. To get them now around here, you have to get top of the line Camry or Avalon (didn't like the Touring suspension) and with very little discounting. Have even considered flying to Annapolis to deal with with Fitzmall. The Azera seemed to have everything I wanted, except for that audio port at a pretty fair price. Will have to take the wife to drive all of the candidates. The Hyundai dealership I went to here in Houston is a little bigger and better looking than in N.O., but not tremendously so, but the salesman was very knowledgeable and even offered to let me take the car a few hours. I wanted to drive the Sonata just to see what it was like (not wild for it), and he was busy, so he gave me the keys and said to try it out by myself. This without ever asking for any ID and seeing nothing concrete except my old, beat-up, green Lumina parked in their lot. I guess I looked legit. Will drive by the other 3 w/in 20 miles to see how substantial they look. I can then take the wife to a better looking one, but will try to buy from the first place :)
