2009 Sonata Limited (2.4L 4cyl 5A)
by raider75 on Tue Aug 04 10:53:26 PDT 2009
Just purchased 7/28/09 in Columbus, OH. Includes all optional equipment except Bluetooth, Nav, and PEP (all are too pricey for what you get). This is an awesome car and the Limited has tons of standard equipment. The cocoa metallic paint looks great in the sun and the cocoa leather is beautiful and very comfortable. Easy to program the homelink feature for my garage door and home security system. The 2.4L engine is very strong, would not recommend the V6 as it is harder on gas and harder on your insurance. MSRP 24,550 Destination 695 Options 220 Doc Fee 250 Dealer Discount -2,000 Sales Tax 1,600 Title Fee 25 Hyundai Rebate -3,000 CARS Rebate -3,500 Total 18,840 I also purchased the extended bumper to bumper warranty for 10yrs/100k miles on a separate contract with $0 deductible for $1400 and no fee. Dealer let me finance it for 18 months at 0%.
Re: Manufacturing Date [haebby]

haebby asked: "Is it common that Hyundai itself is keeping cars in their warehouse/lot for so many months? Thanks!" HMMA (Hyundai Motors Manufacturing Alabama) was cranking out the Santa Fes and Sonatas pretty fast the beginning of the year. Literally, as they roll off the line another company takes control of the vehicles. This company preps the cars/SUVs for shipment then loads them onto trucks to be shipped to various storage lots in Montgomery (and a few in Columbus, GA, too.) From there, the vehicles are processed and placed on appropriate trucks/rail cars to be delivered to dealers around the country (note that models destined for Canada are built in Montgomery then shipped to Canada.) The build dates and the on the lot dates can vary drastically, for several reasons including: Dealer orders Custom orders - believe it or not, your vehicle ordered from the factory was probably already built when the dealer submits the paperwork, the shipper then checks inventory and arranges shipping of your vehicle, along with other vehicles destined for your dealer and others near by Sales figures - when gas prices shot up faster than a diabetic's blood sugar in a Hershey's store guess what vehicle was not really in demand... that's right, the Santa Fe. It's a lot easier to store built vehicles and the ones scheduled to come off the line for the next 2-4 weeks than it is to stop all together and focus solely on Sanatas. Proximity to HMMA - obviously the southern states will get vehicles built sooner than states way out west or Hawaii or Alaska. Besides, for years the Southern states were Hyundai's largest market so the established dealers in the South got pick of the litter and larger inventories (much to their chagrin now, since next model year inventories are based on previous model year sales...) Building to trends - say green was the hot color last model year. Well a good portion of the next model year will be built in that popular color. Trim levels are done the same way - you'll have to wait for a base AWD model, but will have your pick of the mid-level 2WD model. When trends change, the models already built get stored until dealers order them to build up inventory. (My stepdad works at HMMA, that's my source.)
2007 Bought on E-Bay
by ymmot11 on Fri Apr 25 12:01:57 PDT 2008
In August of 2007 I flew from Boston to Columbus Ohio where I was met at the airport by my new car, and the man who had the title. I met his family, his newer "larger" SUV, then pulled out some plates. Minutes later I was cruisin, sunroof open, in my new ride on a 800 mile trip back to beantown! After 7 months of online SF shopping, and an occasional parking lot tour, I decided on exactly what I wanted, and how much I would pay. 2007 3.3 Liter AWD Limited Pearl White with Black Leather, a sunroof, and with only a few miles. I watched many dealer auctions end with bidders around 25K, and 27K. Then finally I saw the auction I knew was going to be mine. In the end it cost $22,500, $1100 in state taxes, and $500 in air fair, hotel and gas. All in $24,100, but I had the exact car I wanted and for a great price. The guy who sold it was an awesome guy who still owed $29,400 when he sold it! He just needed a larger SUV, and a dealership trade in would have only meant 19K. I have put about 20 thousand miles on it, and I don't have any complaints. The seller and I still stay in contact!

janeenc, you must have seen someone else's profile (as I just loaded mine onto the system). I am an attorney (don't have any auto skills other than changing oil and buying gas). I also have a 1991 Nissan Maxima (w/ no payments for the past 8 years:) But to answer your question, I purchased the car for my mother (who just turned 60). I wanted her to have a mid-size sedan with respectable gas mileage, good safety features, and a warranty that would last her until she retires at 65. The offer that the dealer gave me I couldn't refuse. Plus she has never had a brand new car - she deserves it:)
