Bought 2008 Santa Fe today in north west Chicago
by shmshen on Sat May 17 19:06:53 PDT 2008
Just bought the 2008 Santa Fe GLS AWD today and here is the price I paid. Edmunds.com price 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS 4dr SUV AWD (2.7L 6cyl 4A) MSRP Invoice Base Price ------------ $24,150 $23,193 02 Option Group 02 Popular Equipment Package -------- $600 $546 CF Carpeted Floor Mats (5-Passenger) -------------------- $120 $96 CT Cargo Tray --------------------------------------------------------- $110 $88 MG Front and Rear Mudguards ---------------------------------- $95 $76 Destination Charge ----------------------------------- $695 $695 Total with Options -------------------------------------$25,770 $24,694 The Invoice price shows in Edmunds is less than the price this dealer shown me, it includes another $150 advertising fees. So the dealer given invoice is $24844. I paid $23,142 + County tax $15 + Sales Tax County $175 + Sales Tax State $1982 + Document Fee $150 + Optional ERT Fee $15 + License and Title $143. Total $25,632 - $2500 rebate = $23,132. I think it is fair although this dealer charge the document fee and ERT fee (they said it is for electrical filing for the title). But I do not get any free service like oil change or car washing. The car has 8 miles on it and it was not stored in door when the dealer has it. In the document it says that it has full tank of gas, but actually it only has 2/3. I forgot to check it when I test drove it.
Re: Limited Sonata- looking for best deal [sonatafan63]

Yes, check with Towne Hyundai. Their deals are straight forward...no tricks. Their current offer on any Sonata is $3400 under INVOICE, plus another $500 off if you qualify for the Hyundai loyalty rebate. Their doc fee is $189. So, the invoice on the car you want is $22,729 according to Edmunds. Take off $3400 and add $189 for a total price of $19,481 before TTL. Towne is in Denville on Rte 10, about 5.5 miles west of Rte I-287. Call them and mention you saw their internet pricing. Great place, we bought a Sonata in Feb, a friend bought an Azera in May (and he bought a used Sonata for his son 2 weeks ago). Their prices are that good and the personnel are a pleasure to work with.
Re: I got what i wanted end of story [flc2006]

My past experiences have show lease prices to be higher than purchase prices. One time I had even given a $500 deposit (1990) to order a car and the backroom guy tried to talk me into leasing the car. They already made the sale. Do you think he wanted to save me more money and reduce the dealership profit by talking me into a lease? Practically nobody pays MSRP for any mass produced car. Last year I spent about 3 hours researching and an hour and a half with a local CT dealer. He wanted too much & wouldn't budge. In one 5 minute phone call I arranged a quote from a dealer near where my retired parents live in south west Florida. A couple days later the quote came in & in a 10 minute conversation I bought the car. Saved $1800 up front. Now, I had to fly to FL in April and drive back. I was out of work for 4 days, didn't lose any pay, and the trip cost me $300 including all gas & tolls. Plus I got to spend a couple days in beautiful Naples, FL visiting my parents. Net price difference was $1500 (plus the nice visit/change of pace). The CT guy was offering me $500 off MSRP without any dickering, and was adding $500 advertising plus dealer conveyance of $398.50. To me, it was worth investing a few non-taxable hours to net a $1500 savings. Did your sticker price also have to add anything extra like dealer fees?
