How can you tell if the fuel tank on a new car is 19.8 Gallons before you buy it?

2009 AWD Limited V6 by Mogulman on Sat Mar 13 22:07:07 PST 2010

I'm looking at a smaller SUV to replace my 2007 Mazda CX-7. I'm giving the CX-7 to my wife to use. I've been test driving a bunch of these. I'm in Colorado and go to the mountains a lot (once per week). I stopped by the local Hyundai dealer and saw that they had a number of 2009 Santa Fe Limited V6 3.3 AWD on their lot that they are trying to get rid of. The salesperson mentioned that they could probably sell them pretty cheap $6000+ off MSRP. I looked and the TMV price isn't that low so I'm guessing they just need to get rid of these cars. Most of them are between 31,600-31,800 MSRP (basic Limited with maybe some mud flaps or mats or something). My questions: - Any idea what I should be paying for this type of car? - We are planning on keeping the car for a minimum of 6 years. So not that concerned about resale value. Anything that would deter me from getting a Hyundai? -I read some reviews where people really like Hyundai. Other people complain about the gas mileage. Should I be concerned? Is it really as bad as 14mpg with the 3.3 engine? Any ideas how the Hyundai 3.3 engine will compare to a Mazda CX-7 in the mountains? I know the V6 might not have as much power at high altitude. Just wondering how bad it might be. The deals on the 2009 might be too good to pass up. Seems like they should really be pushing to get rid of these cars.
