Thanks intrepidspirit: by ameadows on Wed Aug 13 10:47:41 PDT 2003; Thanks for the input. I didn't realize the warranty dropped to 5 yr/60,000 miles. Was there any type of significant change in the 2002 and 2003 models of Elantra GLS (exterior design or engine etc.)? Secondly, the price for a 2003 Elantra (where I live) with above options is close to $13,400 (after a lot of negotiating). That price includes the $1500 rebate and also includes the destination fee. That is quite a bit of price increase compared to the LA market (where according to you it is about $11,000 for a similar vehicle). So I can save almost $4500 by going with 2002 model with 10,000 miles. I got to make a decision by the end of this week. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks.

Is this a good buy?: by ameadows on Tue Aug 12 23:05:32 PDT 2003; I got to know a dealer in town through some contacts and he has offered to sell me a 2002 Hyundai Elantra GLS(automatic transmission) for $9000 (plus taxes). The vehicle has 10,250 miles on it (a fleet vehicle) and has all the extras (sunroof, cruise control, CD player, keyless entry, alarm and all the power features). The only option that is not on the car is ABS brakes. The vehicle is in excellent condition (no dents, scratches and the car fax report gives a clean history). Is $9000 (plus taxes) a good price for the vehicle? I test drove the vehicle and love it. Thanks.
