Sacramento Elantra SE Auto (Roseville)

We live in Sacramento, and just bought today from Maurice at Roseville Hyundai a 2008 Elantra SE PZEV automatic transmission (charcoal grey with light grey interior, only options were the spoiler and floor mats). The agreed upon price before rebates etc was $16788. We got the $2000 rebate (CA rebate) and the $500 military rebate. So, price after rebate was $14288 (plus they threw in a year's worth of free oil changes). Doc fee was $55.00. Taxes was $1305.33 and registration was $73.75. There isn't a separate destination charge listed, so that must have been rolled into the $14288. Total OTD with TTL and everything was $15722.08. I'm pretty happy!

You can have the Hyundai serviced at any authorized Hyundai dealership. This holds true for warranty work or scheduled maintenance. The bumper-to-bumper warranty is 6 years / 60,000 miles. The powertrain warranty is 10 years / 100,000 miles.

Only the M.S.R.P. is shown on the sticker. If you go to the "New Cars" section at Edmunds.com, the "Hyundai", then "2008 Santa Fe", then "GLS AWD Auto", then "Price with options", you'll be able to configure the exact car you're looking at. Then click on "TMV Pricing Report". The number at the bottom of the M.S.R.P. column should equal the window sticker price. The center column is the invoice price. This is the number that you should be able to buy it for $500 - $1000 less than, before factoring in rebates.

As has been posted MANY times in this thread, if you want to determine whether or not you're getting a good deal you need to compare the selling price EXCLUSIVE of rebates, tax, and license with the dealer invoice price. You haven't provided enough information for anyone here to assess your deal. Is it FWD or AWD? What options does it have? Manual or automatic transmission? What are the M.S.R.P. and invoice prices? Your best bet is to check out 2008 Santa Fe pricing here at Edmunds.com. Configure a Santa Fe GLS exactly like the one you're considering and note the invoice price (including destination). You should be able to buy it for $500 - $1000 UNDER that invoice price, LESS rebates, PLUS tax and license.

I've had absolutely no problems with the transmission in my 2007 Limited AWD. From what you described, it sounds like your test vehicle was malfunctioning.
