Check with the internet department at North Freeway Hyundai. We can't give names out on the forum, but think "fishing or "ale".
'07 SE, 4WD
by tpfilm1 on Wed Aug 01 11:38:37 PDT 2007
Took delivery on: '07 SE, 4WD, nautical blue. No other options w/dealer installed mud flaps, pin stripes, "interior & exterior" protection (didn't pay for those items as they were not detailed on the invoice!) Dealer: Parkway Hyundai/Mitsubishi (formerly Wilmington Hyundai/Mitsubishi) in Wilmington, NC. Out the door price: $21507.80 Purchase Price $22114.78 Total INCLUDES: $379 DOC fee (pretty much the same all over ILM), $448.97 tax (3% in NC, figured after deducting trade-in [$6542] from purchase), $62 tag/transfer, $6259.01 trade pay-off $1500 Rebate (did not do Hyundai financing so could not use additional $500, nor military) W/ $1000 down Out the door price: $19614.78 Due to Step Father working at HMMA in Montgomery, AL was able to use Hyundai Associate Purchase Program (invoice minus ad fee ($150 in SE NC), minus shipping, minus 2% MSRP [w/shipping], minus applicable rebates, plus shipping.) It felt like buying a Saturn. No haggling no "let me see what we can do" or "we aren't making any money on this deal" (they still get holdback and any factory-dealer incentives.) It was great not having to go through the stupid four square and other games. They even worked with me on my trade ('03 Chevy Tracker base 4dr, 4X4, w/all options available in '03 except V6.) Average trade-in (based on Edmunds, KBB, NADA) was about $7200. Actual market trade-in (got quotes from several new and used dealers in town) was hitting about $6500. A tip that I have found to work somewhat in my favor: when the salesman/woman leaves you to go to the sales manager: 1st: make sure you have your car keys and license. 2nd: follow him/her to the "tower of power" it's harder for them to work their 'magic' when you are standing right there, questioning everything they do and looking over their shoulder. They don't like it. If they ask you to leave and wait at their desk siimply ask them what they have to hide? If they can't answer then leave. If possible try not to let them appraise your trade w/out you being there. They can come back and say that "it drove funny" or somethiing like that and may have never even cranked the car up. 3rd: question the invoice they show you. Make sure it is for the vehicle you want and that everything matches up. Finally, check with your family and friends. Find out if any of them have some sort of connection to HMA (Hyundai Motors America) be it directly or indirectly (finance partners, suppliers, advertising, etc) if you have friends or family like this you can participate in the HAPP too. Hyundai Associate Purchase Program Be careful of the internet prices that are really low. They may include rebates that you do not qualify for. Also, all rebates that were in effect last month are still in effect. Nothing new, yet.
Not Bought Yet...

But I have to commend the guys at Hyundai of ILM. I have been very honest with them and they have worked with me. See... I can get any new Hyundai at TRUE invoice minus 15%. My step-dad works at HMMA (where they build the Sonanta and the Santa Fe) and I can get his pricing (HMMA Team Member Purchase Program.) I was considering a Santa Fe GLS, AWD, 5 spd but decided I liked the Tucson SE, 4WD better. Even though they know I can't buy from them (have to take delivery in Montgomery, AL) they have allowed me to test drive two different Tucsons and one Santa Fe on two differrent days. Without any problems. Out of respect for them I did ask if I could drive them and had the sales man assure me he wasn't going to miss anything (both times I went around 7P. In the beginning of the week. The lot was deserted except for me!) In case ya'll are wondering.... price for me will be: '07, SE, 4WD, no options: $18499 (includes destination charge.) Will not have to pay sales tax in AL, only in NC. NC sales tax is 3% = $554.97. Also: the dealership in Mongtomery can't add anything to the vehicle unless I agree to it... before I get there. HMMA generates (for lack of a better term) a purchase order with my name on it. It details what I want and what I want on it. It details the price. Any dealer add-ons have to be negotiated ahead of time. No over-priced pinstriping, no etching, no paint/interior 'protectant', no ADVERTISING FEES! If it was on the vehicle ahead of time... oh well. Thanks! I am trying to get HMMA to tell me if I can get the rebates. That would be sweet: $1500 (as of 07/19/07) rebate on top of great price!
'07 Associate/Team Member Pricing
by tpfilm1 on Fri Jul 13 14:22:11 PDT 2007
Hey. Don't want to make anyone jealous, but I wanted to see how the following deals compared to the latest deals others have gotten. Stepdad works for HMMA (Hyundai Motors Manufacturing Alabama) and I can get Team Member pricing on any new Hyundai. Using this plan, I can get an '07 GLS, AWD, 5spd no additional options for $19158.75 (TRUE invoice minus 15% + inland shipping - not sure if rebate would apply. Checking w/ admins at HMMA.) Through Associates/Friends and Family pricing: $20382.10 (TRUE invoice, minus 2% MSRP, minus rebate, minus advertising fee + inland freight.) Using team member pricing will require me to go to Montgomery (I live in NC) possibly pay AL and NC sales tax plus deal with registering a vehicle bought out of state. Not to mention dealing with trade-in and financing. Using Associate plan I walk into dealership, tell them what I am doing, give them a code generated for me, arrange financing details, trade-in, etc. No haggling, no bargaining, no "let me see what we can do" crap. I can even order a vehicle if it is still being built (since '08's are rolling off the line now...) or have one delivered from the HMMA storage yard. Now, how do those figures compare to deals ya'll have gotten? Would it be worth it to not have to play the game? Sure, someone could probably get a better price but you have to play the game. I have been dealing with Saturn since '98 for new cars. Bought used elsewhere but that's a different story! I don't like the crap, but can do it...
Re: What Should I Pay? [07xle]
by ppborceb on Wed Jan 24 16:38:31 PST 2007
07xle: Thank you very much... I have now been educated, and I will get back to you with 'the rest of the story'(as Paul Harvey would say) when I get my 2007 Santa Fe... hopefully, you will believe it when I tell you what I ended up paying... this may take several weeks as I have very specific requirements for the vehicle that I want, and I am told that you cannot 'order' a vehicle from Hyundai in Montgomery, AL... you get what they produce!!!... take it or leave it, and so far I have left it on the lot. ppb
