$1,500 protection plan is almost a $1,500 profit to the dealer. AHF inspector has performed a lease end inspection two of my vehicles in the past 14 months. He was extremely fair in his damage/wear and tear determination. Many of the small items were either not indicated nor charged for on his inspections sheets. There is a self inspection reference card that AHF gives you that outlines potential excessive wear and use one can use as a guide. Lastly, there is the standard $1,500. allowance.
Getting ripped because of the clunker program ~ dealers dont want to deal..

CFC wont be around for much longer and the dealers will not want to lose 33% of sales like they did last yr at Honda, they have their attitudes now, but wait a while and I think things will get better. I contacted a dealer that had a 09 touring about 200 miles away in the color I want (white) she was saying that they are rare and giving me attitude telling me she can get MSRP for an 09 (yeah right), so I emailed her the link for a website which gives you info on what people are actually paying around the country and that my offer is not so out of the question, she writes back and tells me to drive to WI or NY to get the deal. SO I called not her immediate boss but the owner of the dealership and told him about my experience and he is going to discipline her big time.... Unbelievable!! Here's the website that I was talking about, I've found it helpful. When I mention it to the dealers around here, they tell me that the people on there are not telling the truth about the prices they paid and are exaggerating, my response was "now they can't all by lying".... LOL It's certainly been an education the last few weeks... Check this website out, if you havent already... http://www.opencarprice.com/auto/Honda_Odyssey Samantha

I'm in Chicago, so it's not WI, but pretty close. I got an internet quote from O'Hare Honda for a 2009 CRV EX-L AWD for $25,000 (including destination charge), which is ~$1000 UNDER the invoice price. Dealerships are getting $500 from Honda this month so you should get the car $500 less than invoice. Remember that the invoice price includes a 2% holdback, or ~$500-$600, which the dealer may be willing to share with you. Make sure to clarify with your dealership what the invoice price is because their invoice can be different than what you see online because the dealer invoice often includes a regional advertising fee (~1-2% invoice or MSRP)

2009 Touring w/ PAX OTD for $33,000!!
by mrmunchy7 on Tue Jun 30 07:33:30 PDT 2009
I've been pricing Odysseys for several months now trying to time a good deal. I wanted to play the right conditions between the bad economy, poor sales, higher dealer incentives, and the new 2010 models arrival. Last night I met the perfect storm at Gentile Honda in Racine, WI. I was quoted - in writing - a price of $31,475 for a NEW 2009 Touring w/ PAX. I thought they made a mistake, but it was no typo. The price was $31,475 + TTL, and a $149 doc fee. Well I did not think I could get a better deal so I jumped all over it. I got a fair trade on my old Explorer and was basically OTD for $33,000 and some change. I should say I generally dislike car sales people, but I will admit that everyone at Gentile Honda was fantastic. We closed this deal in less than 6 hours from the time I got my quote to the time I drove home. They stayed open an extra 90 minutes for me because I live a ways away. Everyone was fair and honest and upfront. The fantastic deal they offered was nice too! Unfortunately, I think I ran away with their last Touring model. But I would certainly recommend you check with them if you are in the Chicagoland/Milwaukee area.
