Buying a car from a Honda Car Dealer
I got the car at invoice. Was quoted that price over the phone by a SM @ HoK to get me in the door. Purchased the day before Thanksgiving...was in the market for a 2011...but no one in WA had an EX-L (no navi/res). Bellevue had (2) 2011's...one w/navi & one w/res. You might be able to get a deal if they're still available. However, after calling around...no one was willing to get even close to invoice on a 2012 while I was looking in 2011. And I was an all cash buyer. The best quote on the phone I could get was from Fife...for $1000 over invoice...so close to what you found. If you're not in a hurry...I'd wait for another month or so...and see if you could get closer to invoice. But DO NOT GO to Honda of Kirkland. I wrote *2* complaint letters to the GM/Owner. I attempted/was in contact with the GM/Owner, Customer Service Manager, a Sales Manager, and 2 Sales Associates...and I'm telling you...worst car buying experience ever. Only after I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau did I get a response to either of my letters. So many dealerships in the area...go to *any* one of them. I honestly would have paid more for a better experience...and if you knew me...that's saying something.
Ah, make that a HUGE edge for the Accord on resale value! Noting wrong with Nissans if that is what a person really wants. "Settling" for a different car usually brings regrets later.
Holdback has been 2% of MSRP for several years now. Talking about or going after a dealer's holdback isn't a good way to start a conversation since it is far from bottom line profit. A store needs to make a profit when the day is done.
Why would you want to take a new or certified used car for an independent inspection? That would be a total waste of money in my opinion since Honda requires so much before a car can be certified.
