Thank you so much for the great advice. I called and emailed several local dealerships for the best price. After going back and forth with a couple of dealerships, I got an awsome deal. I was able to get a 2008 LXP with a spoiler for $22,600 drive out. Thanks again, Michelle in TX

Melanie, Don't waste your time calling dealerships and getting the "come on in" line. Google search "Houston TX Honda Dealers". Then go to each of those dealers websites and use their "request a quote" button to get an internet price quote for your EX. The dealers will email you back a rock bottom internet price. Make your comparisons (make sure the quote includes the $640 destination fee) and then email the best dealer back when you're ready to buy.
2008 EX-L in Houston, TX

Just bought an EX-L in Houston, TX. Here's the OTD: 29100.00 (OTD) inclusive of wheel locks, tinted windows, mud guards, spill tray in the rear, life time power train warranty, paint protection, fabric protection. Paid cash and could not avail of the AHFC financing. Would not recommend going to the "big" dealership in Katy. Obnoxious folks.

I am going to a dealership today and didn't know what was a reasonable amount to pay for the lx or lxp. The dealership said they have 18 of these cars. Should I go with the 2008 or 2009? Aren't they basically the same? This is my first post and I've never bought a Honda so I'm not exactly sure what I should do to get the best car for the best price. Thanks, Michelle in Tx

Purchased August 28, 2008 from Honda dealer in Sugar Land (near Houston). 2008 Honda Accord EX-L without Navigation (with splash guard, mats, cargo tray, locks, tint, stripe) MSRP $26495.00 (incld. destination) Price $24,370.72 (includes accessory mentioned above & destination) Sales Tax $1,523.17 (6.25% in TX) Dealer Inventory Tax $51.67 Inspection and Title Fee $68.25 License Fee $60.80 Documentary & Deputy Service Fee $55.00 Drive Out $26,129.61 Did not take any warranty or additional accessory but financed for 1.9% and the dealership is excellent. As vikter here once mentioned, we use this forum and I felt the need for others to know too. Always entertain dealers who submit internet quotes when you email them and are pro-active to reply by email (some leave phone message, call & smooth talk – if they can’t put anything in writing they can’t do much else). Also remember dealers need buyers but we buyers can get anyone to sell. Good Luck on buying your next car (we replaced our old 110k 1997 maxima – any takers :-)

Purchased August 16,2008 from Russell & Smith Honda in Houston TX 2008 Honda Accord EX-L V6 without Navi (no additional accessories) MSRP $28,730 Price $25,339.82 Sales Tax $1,583.74 Dealer Inventory Tax $53.39 Inspection and Title Fee $56.75 License Fee $72.30 Documentary Fee $50.00 Drive Out $27,156.00 I showed the dealer a printout of the Honda Care extended warranties on https://www.myhondawarranty.com They offer 8 years / 120,000 miles extended warranty with $0 deductible for $995. The dealer refused to match it stating that $995 is the dealer's cost. The dealer offered it for $1095 and I offered to split the difference. I ended up buying this for an additional $1045. Honda Warranty code is D82. I prepared by reading this forum and so here is my contribution back to this forum. I encourage everyone who beleives that they negotiated a better deal because of this forum to please post the final sale price, taxes, fees, and drive out price. Good Luck on buying your next car!
