After going thru the internet and getting quotes from all nearby dealers, I bought from the Borman Autoplex in Las Cruces, NM after being disappointed by the dealers in El Paso who didn't know how to close a sale for the life of them. The price of the car was about $17,900 after TX taxes and tags I was at about $19,200 OTD. El Paso Honda wanted $20k OTD and figured me stupid for a savvy internet buyer, I had offered $19,3 OTD to Rudolph Honda they were hesitant and I could tell it was going to take all day to get them there. I know people have been pleased paying about $18k (just the car, sans TT&L) and people from states with similar tax to TX were happy with $19,500 OTD, so having got it for $300 less than that I am very happy with my purchase. The best part was that Borman offered me that price and I took it that day. It was a nice drive up, the drive back gave me a chance to break it in. The other dealers had straight up LIED about Borman, I was in and out in about an hour and a half. If you live in El Paso, its worth it to go up there. I did not try Jack Key Motors, I figured 3 was enough to get me a good deal.
Experiences buying my LX-S

The dealerships that I contacted are located in El Paso, TX, and Alamogordo and Las Cruces, NM. This information may help those around these areas. Rudolph Honda: Everything went as normal, we were negotiating the final price and he was willing to beat the price (before TT&L) of another dealeship; btw they had already sent me the TT&L breakdown. I was about to commit and asked the final price. Finally after 2 attempts where they pretended they didn't understand my request, they sent me the total price. It was 200 dlls more expensive than the other guys' offer. I confronted the sales manager and showed him the TT&L amount he had sent me, and proved him it didn't make sense and I wasn't saving any $ but paying 200+...his email replay was "Thank you for your interest, if you change your mind give us a call" beware of this dealership. Jack Key Honda: Great attitude from the sales guy, honest and w/o gimmicks, only problem is that it's 100 miles away from El Paso and didn't beat El Paso Honda's lowest price. Honda Borman Autoplex: inexperienced salesman (he didn't know that the Si needs premium gas), pushy, disrespectful and obnoxious manager. He was more interested on talking and pushing the sale than listening to the customer. Offered $500 dollars trade-in for my car that according to Blue Book is valued at $5000. When I was on my way out he literally threw his business card on his desk and told me to give him a call if I changed my mind. beware of this dealership. El Paso Honda: Great internet sales manager, John Hummels, honest and straight forward, if he cannot match the offer he doesn't beat around the bush and tells you. I'm buying my LX-S from them.
2009 EXL Sedan V4 w/navi
by memv on Thu Jan 01 12:02:46 PST 2009
I'm having a hard time finding the car I want in my local dealerships. I want the cherry red, light interior w/wood, 4 door, E XL WITH Navi. I live in El Paso TX & I've called las cruces NM & it's not in stock. Does anyone know of how I could figure out what dealership does have it? Ideally, i'd like to see/drive before i sign for it. Also, I'd like to see a Prices Paid discussion on this exact car. Most discussions are for the e xl w/out navi or the e xl v6 with navi, neither is the one i want. THANKS!

I've noticed that the dealers both in Las Cruces and Alamogordo NM and the two Honda dealers in El Paso TX seem to put all of there Honda vehicles on sale --- except for the Honda CR-V.
Pilot 09 Buying Experience & Dealer Review
by hle81 on Sat Jun 28 21:28:56 PDT 2008
Hello everyone. Thank you for your great information and help! It really helped me purchase my new Pilot 09 EXL. Bought it today and I love it! I live in Houston, TX and I found out that Honda dealers here are really mean and won't work with you. Many were manipulative and even condescending. John Eagle- sent me two emails with "incorrect" pricing. Came in to dealership and was told that it was a mistake. They then quoted me for a Pilot 09 EXL with RES for $34,999 + TTL + Fees + Accessories = $39,000+. Would not budge with negotiating. I was told they cannot remove the dealer installed options so I had to pay for it. - I told them to quote me an EXL only = $37k+. Goodson - was very condescending. Online quote was $33,530+ttl. Came in and they quoted $34,230 + $1,200 in options + TTL= $38,100. they reduce price to $37,100. I told them it was beyond my budget, They told me to get a cheaper car! Russell & Smith - quoted $33,764+ttl which will be $36,137 drive out. I bargained OTD $34,000. They rejected it without a counter offer. It was like they didn't want my business. Gillman - $35,130.00 +TTL online. Offered to help me choose a 2008 with lots of rebates since it was beyond my budget. Honda of Clear Lake - I called and was quoted $33,600 OTD! Best price but refused to email me quote. I called, left two messages and no one returned my phone call. Their dealership is 1 hour away - I explained that - and that is why I didn't want to drive far and not have a printed quote in hand. No one called me or emailed me. Baytown Honda - quoted 36,100 OTD for 09 EXL. But when I said I was quoted $33,600 by Clear Lake, they worked with me. Called me back with counter offer of $33,800 as long as I financed with them. I was planning to do so anyway but I told them I would if their offer became $33,000 even OTD. They declined but said that it was the best offer they've given so far on the 09 Pilot. I went with Baytown. They were really nice. They didn't suggest that I get another car that's cheaper. They worked with what I could afford and matched price. Returned my emails and calls repeatedly. I think I bugged the heck out them. Thank you to redant4. Your emails really helped. But unfortunately, I guess where I live the best deal was $33,800 OTD. El Paso had good deals but 10 hour drive is too far and shipping was an extra $900. So even thought Baytown was a couple of hundred dollars more, it was closer to Houston. Thank you renew2 for your suggestion to check Baytown Honda. I wouldn't have looked otherwise.

EXL 4WD w/RES OUT THE DOOR IN EL PASO TX WAS $36,6900 WITH 8.25% TAX AND THIS INCLUDES $600 ADDED FOR SHIPPING IF I PURCHASED IN NC.THEY HONORED THE NC OFFER AND ADDED $600 SO I DON'T HAVE TO GO TO NC TO GET IT.SO THE ACTUAL PRICE IS $36,900 OUT THE DOOR.TRY LEJEUNE HONDA IN NC AND AUTOPARK HONDA IN NC.THE PRICE SHOULD BE $32,175 + TAXES AND SHOULD NOT BE MORE THAN $34,500 FOR EVERYTHING FOR EXL 4WD. USE THE FIGURES I HAVE ABOVE MINUS FEW HUNDRED DOLLARS TO SEE IF THEY WILL COME DOWN SOME.
