Re: '09 FWD EX-L w/o Nav [drac2009]

drac2009, $23,760 is the base price (inl. destination & handling fee). I don't know if this includes doc fees yet. Since I'm still waiting for the dealer's reply. I'm still looking because that is only quoted as the "base price"! As you know, dealerships have ways of jacking up the price by adding so much balonies onto the car (aka, options). I got this quote from VanderGriff (Arlington, TX) but I've heards horrid stories about them being sneaky.

Re: Price paid for 2006 Civic EX Coupe AT [sixtyfour]

Sixtyfour, The OTD Price the dealer quoted for that car is 24,498.00 . This includes (Lojack, Tinted Glass and Some digi (Clearshield like) packages). They wouldn't do it without them ( I test drove the car without the packages in). Guess what, after agreeing to a final figure of 24,298.00, and I went to the dealer, they were adding a spoiler, some undercar protection, fog lights (he showed me the car in the back he couldn't do anything - to give him some benefit of doubt, I was late with my price by like ONE HOUR) which jacked up the price to more than 2000 dollars. And he said that people buy this kind of stuff right now for a civic. I got so frustated with this deal, and walked away. This was Vandergriff Honda in Arlington, TX. The damn car was costing me 27,000 dollars and I wouldn't want to pay that much for any kind of civic (I never wanted those extra packages anyway).
6K under MSRP - DFW area TX
by owlwho2 on Sun Jun 25 22:20:38 PDT 2006
Got my 2006 Pilot EX-L on Wednesday evening but didn't have a minute to post info till now. Bankston Honda in Lewisville, TX (just north of Dallas) is selling in-stock Pilots for $6,000 under MSRP. For my silver EX-L, MSRP 32,395, it was 26,395, plus 499 pro-pack (cargo mat, splash guards, wheel locks) already on the car, total sale price 26,894. With a $55 dealer doc fee, tax and registration, it was 28,212 out the door. Very easy deal with Bankston (an AutoNation chain dealer). They quoted the 6K-under price by email, in response to my quote request thru their website. The internet manager said over the phone that all units had at least the 499 pack and they wouldn't budge on that, but he did verify that the stock number we were quoting didn't have any additional dealer installed stuff. I called at 8 pm to tell them I was on the way from about 40 miles away, and they close at 9:00. I got there at 8:45...the internet manager turned me over to a junior sales guy and went on home. They were happy to write me up a no-nonsense deal in record time. No surprises at all. We were out the door by 10:00, and that included a 15 minute test drive, credit app and taking my 2004 Odyssey lease return (not part of the deal). I just love the truckster so far...my 14yo daughter is flipping out over the XM radio. This was definitely my best car buying experience in 20 years of it. This dealer and two others in the area confirmed the ladder-type incentive...Bankston plans to get 110% of their sales goal and their factory-to-dealer money goes up to 3,000. The higher-volume dealer 3 miles from my house in Arlington, TX could not do better than 1,000 over Bankston's deal, because they didn't expect to reach the 110%. Yeah, I'll drive 40 miles on a Wednesday evening to save $1,000 off an already good deal! Thanks to this forum for helping me know what could be possible.
Buying experience in Dallas/Fort Worth

Just went to Vandergriff Honda in Arlington. They are selling the hybrids at MSRP. However, they are tagging on unwanted add-ons such as window tinting, lojack, and some protection package. They are not willing to sell without these add-ons. They say they add these onto all their new cars. This is their way to gouge the consumer for a thousand or so more ABOVE the MSRP. Of course they give you the song and dance act about demand. I opted to be patient and wait a bit longer. The supply WILL increase. I would much rather wait or call around different dealers than to give these unscrupulous people at Vandergriff your hard earned money. You would be a fool to deal with these folks as they think you are one.
