Re: Odyssey EX w/trade in [derrickson]

Hi, I am interested in purchasing a Honda Odyssey EX in the Memphis or Jackson, TN area. The best offer that I have received is $25,600 + TTL from Memphis. The Jackson dealership is telling me that there is no way that Memphis' offer will stand if I opt for the 2.9% financing. I am also hoping to trade my 1996 Plymouth Grand Voyager. It has 180,000 miles but I have kept in great mechanical order. It has never been in a wreck, and it has new tires, new brakes, new water pump and a 5 year old transmission and air conditioner. Any suggestions or strategies? What do you think that the best price for all would be? Thanks for your help.
My new Touring
by sgarabedian on Tue Nov 23 21:53:11 PST 2004
Since the discussion on the Touring is going hot and heavy, I wanted to add my two cents worth. I picked up my Silver Touring with Gray leather without DVD or NAV from Ed Voyle Honda in Marietta, GA for $32300 OUT THE DOOR (without taxes, which I will pay here in Tennessee). They charged me $750 over invoice plus $400 as their "standard" documentation fee. The vehicle came with a few extras thrown in like mud guards and window etching. I feel that I did save a good $3000. I do believe the Touring without NAV/RES are not in high demand, sitting on the lots, and thus dealers are willing to negotiate. My local dealer in Jackson, TN has about 5 or 6 on the lot and he still is unwilling to deal, thus they sit there and collect dust. Everyone is entitled to their opinions obviously, and everyone has specific needs/wants. There are some awesome features on the Touring that were must haves for my family, like the adjustable drive pedals (my wife's 4'11"), power lift gate (my wife's 4'11"), awesome looking wheels with the safety feature included. PAX is new, so the discomfort of most people is understandable. I'm sure that's how most people felt when they took the "inner tubes" out of tires 40+ years ago. I don't care if I have to pay a bit extra, but I sure as heck don't want my wife and one year old daughter stranded somewhere in a dark, rainy, cold night. Being able to drive 120 miles on a "flat" PAX wheel as absolutely awesome. I know that even I might have a difficult time changing the wheel on a 4500 pound vehicle; I know my wife can't and wouldn't. It's my insurance plan to get my family home safely. The other features about PAX that people don't realize is that you are less likely to lose control of the vehicle when a tire blows, remember the delimma with the Ford Explorers in recent years. It also improves handling of the vehicle compared to the 16 inch wheels. I'm not trying to sell the Touring to anyone, or justify my decision; but fair is fair. Honda took a leap in unchartered territory. They are allowed to do that and we the consumers are given an opportunity to try something new. I guarantee you their engineers studied this before sinking all the money and commitment to such a new system. I applaud them for their courage to break the rules an veer off the beaten path. By the way, anyone want to buy a 2001 BMW 325i with 43K miles on it!!!! My wife loves the Honda and isn't looking back. LATER
Got a very good deal on a Touring without RES or NAV
by sgarabedian on Mon Nov 15 16:41:05 PST 2004
Hello everyone, This is my first post but I have been reading everone else's for a month or so now. I finally got a deal on a Silver Touring without NAV or RES but it took some work. The out the door price was $32313. The breakdown is as follows: $750 over invoice plus $398 administrative fee plus misc. fees of $22. I live in Jackson, TN and the dealer is Ed Voyles in Atlanta, GA. We wanted a gray interior and he tried to sell me a black one (by mistake he said); luckily I checked the VIN number he sent me on the Honda website and found out the interior was black. He did trade with another dealer to get a gray interior, so we're cool. I was faxed an agreement today and I will be flying on Saturday to pick it up. The next best deal I had was from Jasper Honda in AL for $32900 out the door. Local dealers are still quite unrealistic and just not interested it seems to me in making a sale. They weren't willing to negotiate off MSRP by much at all. I'm looking forward to the new van, our first van and our first Honda vehicle. This forum has been very helpful for me and I hope my post will be useful. Good luck to all.
Tennessee Price for GG LX Odyssey
by wantavan2 on Wed Apr 10 11:58:04 PDT 2002
If it helps anyone, we bought a 2002 Granite Green Odyssey LX last week from Jim Miles Honda in Jackson, TN discounted $1,099.90 (that's $900 off MSRP plus waiver of the dealer's $199.90 fee). The dealer had a white LX in stock and did a dealer swap with another dealership in Arkansas that had the color we wanted (by the way, they put the van on a trailer to bring it to Tennessee... had only 15 miles on the vehicle when we took possesion). I think this is a decent price for this area, compared with what others are saying. Anyway, we love the van. Good luck to those still looking. I hope you can do even better!
