Re: 2012 Odyssey EX-L w/ RES and options - good deal? [jjc0821] by tommylaws1 on Sat Feb 04 18:53:55 PST 2012

This is not a direct match but two months ago, I was looking at 2012 Odyssey EXL's with Nav and the best price I found at two dealerships with the lifetime power train warranty was $34,075 BUT, I hadn't included the things you did. One of the useful tools I found was to go up on USAA.com (there are other sites if you are not a USAA member...for military) and they ask you for your zip code. Since I began in the early fall and was traveling from our house in eastern NC, to one of our daughters houses in Pittsburgh, PA and then to my brothers house in Western NY state outside of Buffalo is that if you enter various zip codes, you will get very, very different pricing from these 'direct dealer quotes'. If you want to spend some time on putting in say 10-20 zip codes from different major areas/cities, you may see what I did, VASTLY different pricing, which is EXACTLY how I discovered the 34,075 price fo the EX-L w/Navi. Also, by doing it this way, you can 'build/price' your EXACT Odyssey on line and then, sit back and wait for them 'to come to you' with a price and then play them against each other.

Re: Real world MPG [jpelletier] by nyccarguy on Wed Feb 01 10:59:19 PST 2012

I own a 2011 Pilot EXL w/ NAV 4WD. I bought it in May 2011. I currently have about 12,000 miles on it. So I'm well past the 2 traditional "engine break in points" of 5K & 10K miles. We LOVE our Pilot. The ride, the ulitity, the passenger room, the cargo room are all fantastic. The gas mileage is just awful. My wife gets maybe 15.5 driving around town. We usually get about 360 miles per tank. I just took a weekend trip from our house in Stamford, CT to Pittsburgh, PA (about 400 miles each way). I averaged about 17.5 mpg for the entire trip. Cruise was set at 75 going there and 65 coming home. My best tank was a little over 19 mpg & that was literally driving the Pilot as if it was a hypermiling Prius (Set cruise at 60, let everybody pass you...) The thing is, whether you get 12 mpg (my wife driving all city miles during break in), my PB 19.2 mpg, or even the EPA sticker claim of 22 mpg, it costs the same amount to fill the Pilot up every week. Don't let the Pilot's poor gas mileage send you fleeing to another marquee's dealership. We do LOVE it. In our mind, there was no better 3 row, 4WD SUV out there.

Re: extended warranty [shoppingforcar] by su_a_ve on Mon Jan 30 10:25:51 PST 2012

Honda of Princeton. The dealership is in the middle of a total renovation, so I can imagine they are turning away prospects. Negotiated price - EX-L $31,800 with wheel locks Less trade (matched Edmunds) Plus tax Plus $180 doc fees Less $500 Honda Finance certificates Tags/title was to be paid at cost when it's done (I did transfer plates, but had to renew registration so it came up to $180) Got the extended warranty 8/100/zero from Bernardi Honda $1190, and all weather mats from them as well for about $145 shipped (after their coupon for the warranty purchase). I shopped at Planet Honda - totally deceiving dealership. They told me $30,500 over the phone but never put it in writing. In the end they would only do $31,600 but had a $400 doc fee. Princeton matched it. Hamilton would not match it, and they include a $500 package (wheel locks, mud guards, all weather mats), almost impossible to negotiate with. Flemington would not come close, and neither would Sussman (in PA). If you want, send me a PM and I'll send you the email of the person I dealt with. If you go today or tomorrow you might be able to get the same or even a better deal...

2012 Accord Sedan LX Lease by thebigtuna79 on Thu Jan 19 13:51:14 PST 2012

Just leased my wife a 2012 Accord Sedan LX (Base) 36 months / 12K per year. $1750 total out of pocket which included the following $595 Bank Fee $490 New York State Taxes (8.375%) Paid all taxes up front $250 DMV (NY State Registration and Plates) $250 Doc Fee (BS Fee added on by dealer) $159 1st month Payment 35 remaining payments of $159 (this is the payment that comes in the statement) Basically, if I were going to do a sign and drive, it would be $204 with zilch outta pocket, (DMV, BANK FEE, TAXES rolled in). Beware of adverstisements in Newspapers that claim $99 or $129 a month, they're all BS. This is the best deal in the NY/NJ/PA area. Trust me, I shopped around !

Re: Too Much Money [boris36] by laavram on Mon Jan 09 15:50:05 PST 2012

In my opinion, the good price people have paid recently for EXL-NAV is about $33k + state tax + max of $200 in tags/fees. Anything more, you can paying too much. If you prefer to save money, consider driving 120 miles to PA (Bobby Rahal in Mechanicsburg) to get this price than paying $4k more to local dealer. You can email your old car pictures and guarantee a trade-in offer via email and drop off and drive your new car. I bought my EXL-RES last month for $32,650 (incl. destination) + 6% PA tax + 165 in tags/fees and an very good trade-in for my old vehicle. All handled via email and phone.
