'08 LX in central Illinois: by rattles33 on Thu Apr 10 07:31:55 PDT 2008; Just picked up our new LX last night. $21,800 nimbus gray. Had a '00 Ody with 115k mostly trouble free miles, but figures the transmission was only a matter of time, and plus the CEL was coming on occationally for the catylitic converter, so traded when it went off. Honda of Illinois in springfield got us in and out, very good experience. Absolutely no gimmicks. Told them what I would pay for the new and only then did the trade and also told them what I needed for it or no deal. They quickly came to my price and everything went smooth.

I initially sent out quote requests using Edmunds and received several quotes within a few days or so. The lowest one I got was from Koons in Manassas which was around $30,500 for the sale price (not including destination). The salesman told me they are currently offering a $500 off the internet quote coupon for this month which will bring down the price to roughly $30,000. Figuring this is a very good price, I called Hendrick to see if they can match this price. The manager I spoke to said he would match this price and since Hendrick is the closest dealer to me (I live in Springfield, VA), I went with them. The transaction was very smooth and the people there were excellent. They have a large selection with many colors to choose from. My wife really like the Nimbus Gray and that's what we got. I suggest you ask others what they are paying for the car you want and determine exactly how much you are willing to pay. Then go to a dealer and make an offer. If they accept, but the car. If they don't accept your offer, then leave. Increae your offer by $100 and try some where else.

We offered an out-the-door price of $20700, which was invoice + transportation - $500 + tag/title ($50) + sales tax (3.1%). That price was about $600 less than the internet quote they originally offered.
