Now having said all of that, it still pisses me off when I hear that a dealer wants to bend someone over as a knee jerk reaction to make an extra buck during tough times. Just walk away from that dealer and tell your neighbors to do the same. Rest assured I have told quite a few people about what the dealership is doing, sadly when you need a car and it's that time to buy one and the dealer is acting the way they do during a feeding frenzy, it just leaves a bad taste in your mouth for next time. Also the $400 dealer processing fee is way too much. This place could have had my business for years to come, but instead they chose the short term option. I might buy the new Fit when it comes out but due to the poor and money gouging attitude of the dealer, I will cross shop and possibly buy a different brand than Honda. Does anyone care? Probably not but still it's not just one sale this dealership loses but all further sales from me as well as all other brands in their group. I might buy from another Honda dealer and have it serviced there but just like they can charge what they want. I can decide to buy what and when I want. I've bought about 28 new cars in my lifetime. A few dealerships will never see a another penny from me, ever. Lasting impressions.... Most car dealers are in the game for today and on rare occasions tomorrow. Most don't care about down the road long term buyers any more. Honda has easily the most arrogant people in the car industry as is evidenced by talking to any Honda sales people or sales managers.

tiff c - Buy it / Don't buy it - it's always a choice and it's YOUR choice; nobody is making you buy the car. But remember that your decision (to buy or not buy) along with the decisions of millions of other Americans will shape the 'demand' side of the market. If everyone could just take a deep breath and resist the urge to get all caught up in this hype, I predict that the panic will subside in a few months (after the lemmings have made their purchases) and prices for small, high MPG cars (like the Honda Fit) will return to what is "normal" for a low margin vehicle. Now having said all of that, it still pisses me off when I hear that a dealer wants to bend someone over as a knee jerk reaction to make an extra buck during tough times. Just walk away from that dealer and tell your neighbors to do the same.

No offense, but I don't get why people lease a $20,000 CR-V for $360-$370 per month. First of all, you could buy it on a 72 month loan with zero down for $330 per month. Slightly more if you finance your sales tax. After three years you would owe around $10,600. $367 X 36 lease payments = $13,212. 330 X 36 traditional loan payments = $11,880, plus you would own it. I agree, leasing never made sense to me, except if you just dead set on having a new car every 3 years. Even then, you can "self lease" and do it on your terms. If you time your purchase with financing incentives from Honda, you can get 2.9 for 60 months, no problem, with good credit of course. $20,000 at 2.9% for $60 months is about $350/month. After 3 years of paying $360/month you will have paid $12,600 and owe about $8,000 on the loan. If you were to sell a 3 year old CR-V with 36,000 miles, you could get anywhere from $12,000 to $17,000, depending on whether you trade in or sell privately. Use portion of that money to pay off the loan, and you have a solid $4,000 to $9,000 in your pocket. This is the money you wold have given to the leasing company, why not keep it your self? A 3 year lease would cost anywhere from $350 to $450 per month. Add acquisition fee, security fee and other lease associated fees and your total for the 3 years is between $12,600 and $16,200 or more. You have no equity in the vehicle and have nothing to show for the last 3 years of payments. Would anyone be so lazy to not to bend down and pick up $4,000 to $9,000 laying on the floor? They are doing it with leases on Hondas every day. This only works with vehicle that have high resale value. Most domestics depreciate so fast and so badly that leasing is probably more efficient.

Ok point taken...I apologize to Mr. IsellHondas. I actually dealt with a crooked Honda salesman last week. He accept my more than fair offer which included, by the way, a built in profit. I faxed him an offer with the numbers broken down including the profit for him. Yes, the offer was slightly below invoice including destination charge, but not by much, about a hundred below However, the offer was well more than I have seen others pay on this forum. Long story short...he accepted the offer via voicemail.and said it was "more than an acceptable offer and very doable". It was an honest and fair offer not intended to "rip off the dealer". Then when I called him back he retracted his acceptance making up some lame excuses about the car being the only color in town as well as some other ridiculous excuses which included "five speed manual transmissions in the 4-door sedans are in demand so he couldn't let it go for that price". I am sure any honda salesman on this forum will concur that this is not true. I have owned three 5 speed manual hondas in my lifetime and I know that dealers do not carry many of them because they are harder to sell in the 4 door sedan trim vs the 2 door coupe trim and harder to sell than any automatic transmission. I also had another dealer (the other one that accepted the same offer) tell me that he will sell 30 automatic sedans before selling one manual sedan. Funny thing is that this place I was dealing with had 4 manual sedans on the lot and they still have all four as of today. This salesman was very young and obviously "wet behing the ears" in experience. I assume he wanted the deal, but his sales manager didn't. I was not falling for those lies and games especially after he accepted the offer. So I told the guy that I wasn't playing games, I made him a fair offer that was also accepted at another dealer in town, and that I didn't appreciate the lies. He copped an attitude. So that ended my business relations with that dealer. It just wasn't worth it the hassle and aggravation. He lost my trust at that point. I called the sales manager and the GM to complain about what had happened and left it at that. There are some reputable dealers out there who will bend over backwards to help you, like the NEW dealer I am working with now...who also gave me a fabulous price (lower than my original offer to the other dealer) which I jumped on promptly. He was even willing to search for the color I wanted and do a dealer transfer. Excellent service! And there are some that deserve to lose customers like the guy above. So you see, it was not me who tried to "squeeze" every nickel out of the dealer, it was the dealer who was trying to play games and fool me into paying more. So to those of you who thought I was being "unfair" and a trying not to allow for a profit, I hope this will clear the air and show otherwise. Good luck Honda shopping!!! :D
Re: LX or LX-P [packer3]

Thanks for the advice on the anti-theft system. I looked through Honda's homepage. On their webpage, they list anti-theft system as standard on both the LX and the LX-P. Does this mean that the LX have the alarm system and the engine immobilizer? I was surprised to see engine immobilizer listed on Honda's webpage. I thought only Camrys have the immobilizer. I just came back from a visit to my dealer, the one that offered me $20,000 including destination. Turned out the dealer wants to add another $400 on top of that as "dealer prep fees." Unbelievable. I was hoping to knock off $400 from their original offer, now they want to add $400 on top of their original offer. I walked. I test drove the car. The plastic wheel covers on the LX do look ghetto. They are thin, and bend VERY easily. I can't believe Honda used this kind of thin plastic for their wheel covers. My now sold mid 90's car had better thicker metal wheel covers.

I have the Accord LXP, and old ex leased 04 Malibu, The Malibu was a lot quiter than the Accord on the road without a doubt as is the new Malibu, however in the more important area where driving and safety really counts the Accord by far handles alot better on wet and or dry roads, around corners, bends, and reaction time. The sound isn't as horrible as it sounds. After a month I really haven't paid any attetion to it and it goes away especially the wat it drives. I'll take that trade off any time any where.
