Re: Financing Deal [loki74]

loki-- You can go to www.automobiles.honda.com and click on "current offers". They list all the national offers, but also have a box where you can enter your local zip code to get "regional offers". My region (OK) only listed the low financing through March, but I haven't checked recently. It wouldn't surprise me if the offers ended soon since spring/summer tends to bring out all the hibernating buyers. I would trust Honda over third party websites although Edmunds is usually pretty good with up-to-the-minute information. Gogiboy
Re: 07 Civic EX coupe Manual in VT [rikrak]

rickrak-- Great points. There are far too many folks who drop in for a second or two and hope to get the same deal as someone else "claimed" they got across country, at a different time of month and who failed to state that the deal hinged on a low offer for a trade-in. Leases are even more opaque, hence the large number of questions on that forum. Others suffer from post-sale regret because some yahoo claimed they paid "X" amount less or stated that the buyer was fleeced instead of enjoying their car. It seems that almost no one considers "VALUE", which, obviously, varies from one individual to the next. Gee, if I'm only looking at cost why not buy a US manufactured car with $3500 off and a 0.9% interest rate? Could it be that I don't perceive that car as a value? But then, that's just me. I'm looking at pulling the trigger on an SI Sedan or EX w/5 speed to replace my current 94 Civic (bought new in 94). My Civic has provided tremendous value since I haven't had to pay on it in almost 9 years except for a few minor parts. Instead of trading in every 36 months and having no down payment the intelligent folks on this board should consider putting 50% or more down, getting a short-term loan (2-3 years), and hanging onto the car for 7-8 years. Using that formula no one will have to cry over the fact that they paid $500 or $1000 more than some other forum member --especially with the strong reliability and excellent resale of the Civic. Plus, in my region there is 2.9% financing available on new civics until the end of March. I wonder how many of the buyers proclaiming their great deal put zero money down and have 9%, 10% or 12% loans for 60/72/84 months? What is useful on this board is: Region/State/Dealer_____________ Price of car including destination ($595)_________ Fees________ Dealer installed or customer requested options (i.e. mud flaps, etc)____ Total cost of above__________ Taxes and tag (if listed at all) should be a separate line. Here in OK they are paid at the tag agency and tax is 3% of sale price, not MSRP. Tag is also based on purchase price. Any trade-in makes all the above figures nebulous and, in my opinion, pretty useless, especially since so many buyers now carry negative equity into their new car deals. Gogiboy
Re: Price to offer on Sedan SI [mhattrup]
by gogiboy on Sat Dec 02 10:59:24 PST 2006
mhattrup-- Thanks for sharing your experiences with the SI coupe. I'm pretty confident I can get the SI Sedan for MSRP from Hondas of Bartlesville (north of Tulsa). They list all of their discounted prices next to the MSRP on their website. Their prices aren't the cheapest one might negotiate for, but they don't do add-ons or ADM or at least they didn't when the dealership was owned by Mark Roberts. It looks like the new owners are keeping the same sales approach. Since I already have a 92 MR2 I need to decide whether I really need the extra Civic SI zip vs. the practical storage of the Fit. Not exactly cross-shopping similar stuff, am I? There is a Fit Sport MT at one of the dealerships in Tulsa (if it's still there), but I'm not enthusiastic about driving over since we just got 12" of snow and, except for the main arteries, few of the roads have been properly cleared. Given the poor roads and cold temps I'd ordinarily say this would be a great weekend to look/buy, but I really doubt it would matter one bit with Fit pricing. I bet the dealers aren't happy to see their cars taken on test drives when it's as slushy and gross as the OK roads are right now. Gogiboy
Re: Pricing for '06 EX [2006diane]

"I'm looking to purchase a new car in the next few days, and am leaning towards the 2006 Civic EX 4-door automatic. I've been making contacts with dealers over the Web, and have been quoted the following prices: 19117, 19110 and 18960" I checked the Mark Roberts Honda website and they have a handful of EX 4 dr/auto for $18488, which is roughly $500 less than your lowest offer. For what it's worth they seem to be straight shooters and plenty of people fly in from out of state to buy (if you believe this website among others). Roberts is located in Bartlesville, OK about an hour north of Tulsa and roughly 6-7 hours from Dallas/Fort Worth. Roberts' prices have been known to get folks better deals from the Tulsa dealerships, too. I wish I'd have known about them in 94 when I bought my Civic since I only live 1 1/2 hours away. I don't agree politically with the owner, but that is for another chat group. Gogiboy

"6-7 hours? yikes that must include a few picnic's along the way." I agree. I'm a transplanted Michigander who has lived in OK for 16 years and still can't get used to the driver mindset in big land-mass states like OK, TX and NM. Many of my students will drive 4-6 hours one-way every few weeks to visit the folks. Then again, there isn't much choice here with virtually no mass-transportation options and plenty of distance between point A and B. Gogiboy
Good buying experience in Oklahoma
by jemmettg on Sun Sep 08 20:47:50 PDT 2002
I recently purchased a Pilot EX at Johnsons Honda of Stillwater, OK and found it to be one of best car buying experiences I've ever had. No real hard sell or pressure, and they honored everything negotiated in good faith. They sold at MSRP, but it was technically "discounted" because they agreed to include Honda accessories as part of the deal. I found the salesman, sales managers (and also the general manager - really nice guy) to be committed to making it a "fair" deal. Of course we all knew that Pilots were selling at MSRP in the OK City area - yet they still (and basically the only dealership in OK) were willing to negotiate a deal. "Fair" was that I saved $500. BTW, my calculation of accessories were based on internet prices, not Honda list.
