Re: Price to offer on Sedan SI [mhattrup]

mhattrup-- Thanks for sharing your experiences with the SI coupe. I'm pretty confident I can get the SI Sedan for MSRP from Hondas of Bartlesville (north of Tulsa). They list all of their discounted prices next to the MSRP on their website. Their prices aren't the cheapest one might negotiate for, but they don't do add-ons or ADM or at least they didn't when the dealership was owned by Mark Roberts. It looks like the new owners are keeping the same sales approach. Since I already have a 92 MR2 I need to decide whether I really need the extra Civic SI zip vs. the practical storage of the Fit. Not exactly cross-shopping similar stuff, am I? There is a Fit Sport MT at one of the dealerships in Tulsa (if it's still there), but I'm not enthusiastic about driving over since we just got 12" of snow and, except for the main arteries, few of the roads have been properly cleared. Given the poor roads and cold temps I'd ordinarily say this would be a great weekend to look/buy, but I really doubt it would matter one bit with Fit pricing. I bet the dealers aren't happy to see their cars taken on test drives when it's as slushy and gross as the OK roads are right now. Gogiboy

>>I see alot of prices around 21,400 to 21,600 quoted on this board....Mark Roberts Honda in Bartlesville, OK, is quoting $23,400 on their website, kind of discouraging. In most areas it is unusual to see the prices paid here posted on the internet or given as initial internet quotes. These prices won't find you, you have to create them for yourself (if it was TOO simple then everyone would be buying at these prices). 23,400 is horrible for an EX-L AT. Drive 3 hours down to Frank Kent Honda in Fort Worth and you can get a EX V6 for 24,000. Or you can get a EX-L for 22,000 even. You do not have to bargain for these prices. Just call up my guy (referenced in yesterday's LONG post) and say that you will buy from the first dealer who meets that price. Done. He has 10 EX-L sedans on the lot and 18 EX V6 sedans. But before you do that, make the same phone call to your dealers up there. Don't cower when any dealers question your price. Confidently restate it and kindly ask them if they are interested. You can tell them you already have that quote, but it is from a out of town dealer, and you thought you would check if any dealers in town wanted to match it. Otherwise you will go with the deal you have. Let me know how it goes.
EX-L 4cyl

Is anyone getting great deals in Oklahoma on EX-L 4cyl? I see alot of prices around 21,400 to 21,600 quoted on this board, just wondering if I can expect to get the same kind of deal here. Mark Roberts Honda in Bartlesville, OK, is quoting $23,400 on their website, and I've heard their website prices are usually better than you can get from the dealers here in OKC. Kind of discouraging.
Re: Pricing for '06 EX [2006diane]

"I'm looking to purchase a new car in the next few days, and am leaning towards the 2006 Civic EX 4-door automatic. I've been making contacts with dealers over the Web, and have been quoted the following prices: 19117, 19110 and 18960" I checked the Mark Roberts Honda website and they have a handful of EX 4 dr/auto for $18488, which is roughly $500 less than your lowest offer. For what it's worth they seem to be straight shooters and plenty of people fly in from out of state to buy (if you believe this website among others). Roberts is located in Bartlesville, OK about an hour north of Tulsa and roughly 6-7 hours from Dallas/Fort Worth. Roberts' prices have been known to get folks better deals from the Tulsa dealerships, too. I wish I'd have known about them in 94 when I bought my Civic since I only live 1 1/2 hours away. I don't agree politically with the owner, but that is for another chat group. Gogiboy
Mark Roberts Motors

We have had a great buying experience with Mark Roberts Honda in Bartlesville, OK. [an internet dealer - markroberts.com]. The price we agreed on for a 2006 EX-L, including trade in, was lower than the deal offered by either of the Honda dealers in Albuquerque. The Roberts company promotes itself as a straight shooter, and, in the elusive world of auto deal honesty, that is a hard road to hold. In our case we ordered an ocean mist color. When we drove our trade-in into the shop there was a little trepidation. After all, they are getting the first real time look at the trade-in. There is always the chance that they will find something off so that they can offer you less money than what they had agreed to pay. That did not happen. They inspected the care, came in and told us a couple of things that they thought might have undervalued the car, but said they were not significant enough to lower the value of the trade-in. It took a bit longer than expected to get the van ready to drive home. We took a break for dinner, and, when we got back it was dark. The salesman had driven the van outside and parked it. He was there waiting for us. We tried the keys. They did not work, and he had them reconfigured. We hopped in the van for a long drive home. The next morning we looked at the van, and it seemed more green blue. We also had inspected the van more thoroughly and discovered that they had given us a slate green van with a rear entertainment system - not an option we had purchased. The VIN numbers did not match with the retail sales contract. We notified the company. One of their staff had made an error. But they agreed to eat the loss without a quibble, and we ended up with a RES unit - no need to drive back to OK, no need to argue about the rights and wrongs - they simply did what they thought was right, and gave the customer a benefit rather than a hassle.
2006 Odyssey EX-L in Oklahoma
by edxs on Fri Sep 30 15:38:50 PDT 2005
I live in Tulsa, Oklahoma area. I started looking for an Odyssey EX-L in July. We almost purchased a 2005 EX-L from a local Honda in late July, but the car had almost 300 miles on it so we decided to wait for 2006 models. I sent emails to several Honda dealers around Tulsa area. I know there is a Honda dealer in Bartlesville which has very competitive prices on their web site. Although I had some bad experiences with the dealer back in 2002 when I was buying my CR-V, but I know at least I can use their prices to deal with other dealers. Anyhow, a Honda dealer in Oklahoma City (about 120 miles from Tulsa) returned my email, offered $1,000 off MSRP and asked how much do I want to pay for 2006 EX-L. I said $28,600. That was in mid August. This Tuesday their Internet Sales Manager sent me an email asking me if I was still looking for an Odyssey. I said yes and he offered $28,908 this time, but the price is only good by Friday 9/30. I contacted a local Honda dealer and told them about the offer. They said they would match the price. I’d rather buy a car from a local dealer, so I emailed the dealer in OKC and told them about it. The OKC dealer quickly slashed $500 dollars and offered me $28,399. I called the local dealer and they said they would match whatever the OKC dealer offers. This morning, my wife went to the local dealer to pick the color and pay the deposit. To our surprise, when my wife showed the local dealer the new offer, the Sales Manager was very unhappy and would not change the price and walked away, the other salesman who had offered us to match the new OKC dealer’s deal was “in a meeting” and “will be available in 10 minutes”. My wife waited for more than 10 minutes and decided to leave. So I called the OKC dealer and gave him my credit card for deposit. I asked one of my friends in OKC to go to the dealership to check the vehicle. The color we picked is Ocean Mist and the vehicle had 6.7 miles on its odometer. Our mini van will be delivered tonight. The dealer will send two drivers, one drives my new EX-L and other follows him so that he can take him back to Oklahoma City. The final price I would pay for the van is $28,598.50, this includes their “processing fees”. I know I could have them to wave it if I play some games, but I am tired of it and it is what I thought a fair price. Folks, this is my experiences of buying 2006 EX-L. Hope it would help those who live in sooner state. :)
