My Second CR-V SE
by darlingcrv on Sun Jul 09 05:17:28 PDT 2006
Just purchased a second 2006 SE model (pewter pearl) with all the additional bells and whistles, like running boards, nickel trim, luggage rack, pin stripes, cargo mat. While running boards aren't really needed I love the sportier look they give the vehicle. I purchased at Victory Honda in Sandusky Ohio I was treated like royalty (which is what I expect when spending this amount of money in one day) We were never left to sit or get bored for more than 10 minutes at any point as a floor salesman, internet saleman, general manager and finance manager all kept coming to us during our process to keep us informed of where things were at with the deal, especially during that lag time of vehicle prep they do from when you've sealed the deal. Prior to this purchase I received quotes for the typical model without all the above fluff. These were the prices quoted to me for internet deals - although I still had to talk to most of them on the phone to get them to match and compete against one another. 23,410 - Motorcars - Cleveland Heights Ohio 23,410 - Sunnyside Honda - Middleberg Heights, Ohio 23,500 - Whiteys Honda - Mansfield, Ohio 24,060 - Matia Honda - Elyria, Ohio and of course, some dealers didn't bother to respond, so I knew that I didn't want to deal with them anyway. Considering the following: 24,060 - Invoice Price 24,882 - Edmunds TMV for what my area is I was very happy with the prices I was quoted. Would have been even happier if we had done it a few days earlier - we missed out on the $750 rebate! Since we didn't start looking until the 6th (it ended the 5th) SIGH-- Oh well, When I bought my 2000 SE I got a great deal, but not as much under invoice in my area back then. Anyway, it was more than 45 min to an hour drive to other dealerships outside of Sandusky for me. I had a really bad experience with the prior Honda Dealership Sandusky Motors in 2000, HOWEVER, now that it is owned by Victory Honda they have done a total 360! I got a great deal on my souped up version and was treated fairly for the most part on my trade (a 2001 Grand Prix with 170,000 miles) I will also mention that Sunnyside did a wonderful job for us in 2000 with our last purchase - so if thats closer for you take time to check them out as well. I told the new Victory about the horrid experience and treatment from the old owners, did my homework ahead of time and they were willing to do just about anything to keep me from going to Cleveland. Even though my husband was with me, I did the negotiations (he hates that stuff)and they knew up front that I was more interested in bottom line prices and trade in value than silly things like colors and cup holders! I promised Victory I wouldn't divulge the price I paid, however, I did go for the model with the add-ons and was thrilled with my bottom line! If you've done any research on CR-V pricing in this area and based on the standard SE model prices I listed above (you should come to the conclusion that where I bought from would have had to beat or come close to the pricing ;) to save me the additional 2 hours drive time round trip to a cleveland area dealer) I will say this, they definitely cleared out all that soap taste that was still in my mouth from the old Sandusky Motors days. I love my new honda and now we have his and hers CR-V's! The 2000 we have is great, never any problems and has 65,000 miles. I didn't bother looking at another model by competitors in this category as the CR-V already gives me everything I want and then some on the newer 2006! :) I agree with the prior post on playing the game. I had FUN doing this deal since they knew I was a woman on a mission to get what I wanted for the price I wanted it at! Not too mention I impressed the hell out of my husband who would have just paid the first price offer without the research. Take the time to get the internet pricing, secure financing before you go if you can and let them know you are willing to drive further than your own city to save a few dollars!
Odyssey Touring w/ RES & Nav - Southwest Ohio
by mahadevan on Wed May 25 13:31:35 PDT 2005
Folks: We live in Cincinnati area and no dealer around here was willing to talk close to invoice. We have a Honda dealer just a couple of miles and three salespeople ignored invoice talk. Ok, so we hit the usual internet sites and Costco auto buying program. Costco has no dealer in SW ohio but one near Cleveland and Indy. Indy dealer was willing to knock off 2k off MSRP which is 39010. Trolling the Edmunds forums (thanks guys), asked a few more with emails and their site. Got a few. But I was really impressed with Voss Honda in Tipp City. First offer was 700 over invoice (which is 35038 with Transportation) which is 35738 but they included free splash guards which is $99 retail. Took the offer. But they did not have any Touring with R&N. My wife wanted Red. The sales person was terrific. He arranged for an on-air trade with a dealer in Columbus. Deal was done on May 6, Ody built on May 11. Arrived in Columbus 5/24 (somebody at Honda couldn't transfer the paperwork to Voss). Voss picked it up yesterday, installed splash guards, washed, filled up the tank. We arrived at 7PM, the sales person stayed with us till 9:15PM explaining everything on this loaded van. They also sold us 7/75 extended warranty at the same price mentioned in these forums. They did not pressure us to buy anything extra. Price breaks down as 35738 + 100 doc fee + 875 (7/75 Extended Warranty) + 7% OH tax + 25.5 Title fee = 39308. They also got me a terrific loan deal with Honda/Chase. They went through hoops to have the title in my wife's name when I had applied for the loan. Great people. Great service. And they are President's medal holders for Ohio. What more can you ask? I hope the Cincinnati dealers come down from their high perch. This van is cool. Dave.

2004 EX L RES for 26,500 ++ tax + title in OHIO
by oh43054 on Thu May 20 19:35:50 PDT 2004
Just bought a 2004 Odyssey EX w/Leather + DVD RES for 26,500$ from Voss Honda in Tipp City, Ohio(North of Dayton on I-75). Here's my experience. 1. I live in Columbus, OHIO. Emailed couple of dealers here and also some under the 100 mile radius with my offer of $26,500 for EX-L-RES in Sandstone Pearl on 5/18(Tuesday) at 10pm ET. 2. Got a call from there internet sales guy on 5/19 at 9:30am ET accepting my offer. No haggling period!. Put down my $500 deposit the same day at noon after he faxed me the buyer's agreement to see the numbers and odometer reading/VIn on paper. 3. Drove 70 miles from Columbus to Dayton to pick the van on 5/20 at 5 pmET. The van was all prepped up and all my paperwork was ready. Went in and drove out with my new van in less than 1 hr. I highly recommend them to anybody wanting to buy an Odyssey. I got it for $1000 below invoice. My happiest, quickest, smoothest car buying experience.
Mike Pruitt Honda
by mugsy on Fri Apr 30 10:25:35 PDT 2004
Most everybody has such great things to say about Mike Pruitt Honda in OH and all my local dealers are qouting MSR or above for the Pilot. I'm a first time shopper for a car (live in New York) and complete novice at this. Can any fellow new yorker or anyone else tell me how this works since Ohio can't collect NYS and NYC tax. I assume I'm still obligated to pay the very hefty state and city taxes (directly) but have no idea how to do this. Also, how does it work if there is a problem with the car after devilery. Will any New York Honda service department handle issues that come up with an Ohio purchased car. Sorry if these questions seem so basic but I really have no clue. Thanks for any help!
