Buying a car from a Honda Car Dealer
many dealers did try to upsell me into 07 or 08 with Navi. I was going through my e-mails and I cant pinpoint any specific dealers for you. I would just email the internet department of all local honda dealers until you get the lowest price you can find for the car you want and then try to wittle it down even further. i was suprised i was able to get mine for $20K and that was Dublin Honda's initial price quote. I saw no reason to haggle any lower as I didn't see how they could go any lower anyway. i would stay away from autowest, stevens creek, sf honda. they all seemed overpriced or wouldn't even quote me a price without making me come in. whats the sense of an internet dept then? oh yes, the $20K included everything, only extras were tax, title, license, plus $8 tire fee. total out the door price was approx $21,900.
I've received quotes from many dealerships in the seattle area... most are pretty tight about negotiating but I think this will change come July. Some were great straight shooters, and comfortable to talk to a deal with, others changed their stories mid sentence and I got quite an uneasy feeling. Sims and Lynnwood wouldn't budge under 29996. Renton(but with NAV thrown in) and West Hills was at the same at 29696 but said they would beat any lower bid by 100 bucks and willing to talk. Klein in Everett was the most relaxed and willing to work with 28500... maybe less. Klein works with you on your terms not theirs. Bellevue was the worst experience with firstly not quoting via email and then when I went in stories changing mid sentence, typical sales scare tactics (amazing with 93 pilots in stock.. like they are gonna sell them all in a week!! and then saying more are coming in off the truck in a week) Extreme lowball tradein allowance, calling the info on this website as false and admits to scoping out the forums. And the most annoying part... the "make you wait around the dealership" I don't know why they do that.. the e-sales person and assistant has to go check on something for 20minutes.. and then back I ask another question.. and off to check another thing out for another 10 minutes. I was there for more than 1 1/2 hours and got tired and frustrated in the end I left (besides it was lunch) however on a good cordial note.. but I didn't get a good vibe. The "way too perky" sales assistant was also very annoying. Oh.. and the quote...started at 37xxx down to 28500 and won't budge and did not answer my questions about any other end game "fees" other than TTL. Didn't get anything back from Kirkland or Northwest. The best quote I've gotten was from Dublin Honda just south of the San Fran Bay area for 27,200. Tempted to catch a flight with my cheque book. My final analysis... I'm not picky on colour and with the inventory high in the area... and the "unremarkable" 08's due in late July/early August... my feeling is that there will be more incentives laid out to reduce inventory and I'm going to be on hold until July. Love to hear what you find out! Happy hunting!
Hats off to Tina Tina she posted few weeks back on her exp buying a 2006 Accord SE Auto in the Bay Area. I figured what the heck I live in San Jose and she got the deal up in San Fran so San Jose dealers would be game. Used Costco and my closet dealer to my house was the Stevens Creek Honda dealer and the Costco salesman guy calls me and we set up a time. Go there check the car all is good and ask for my costco price. They say Invoice plus 300 so like 20300.00 plus tax title and license. I say thats really high and you can do better. So they play the game where the salesman goes back to manager, I sit and wait at table, takes lots of time, price gets to 19400, plus TTL. I say way to high, I need better price, they say 18,800 best they can do, I say go 18200 and buy now, manager laughs at me says he is done. I say thanks and c ya later. He calls me next day and laughs at me again (whats up with that?) and hangs up. So did not like Stevens Creek Honda. Tried plan B and mass emailed as many honda Dealers within 30 mile radius of san jose, no one could give me deal close to Colma Honda. To be fair the next best was Dublin Honda at 18400.00 maybe I could have haggle a bunch and got 18300 but what the heck Colma was upfront on the price. Went with plan C, emailed Colma Honda, price is 18300 plus TTL per tinatina post. Got brand new car, 4 miles on it, still in plastic, they detail car, I pay cash and out of dealership in an hour and half. Great car, I test drove the Hyundai Sonata V6 and Toyota Camry LE V4. Sonata was nice but gas mileage reports and the resale value was a bummer. The toyota, great car but those toyota guys do not want to haggle. I know that toyota camry will drop in price once the incentives come out, my GF bought the Camry LE 2006 for 16,599.00 Plus TTL so I can't see the 2007 camry LE at 19200 plus TTL and they have the same MSRP so dealers are makin a killin on camry esp the Camry Hybrid. Anyway so my total was 20049.21 OTD anyone in california can go to the DMV website and calculate fees, print it out and take to dealer to make sure they are not pullin a fast one on you. https://vrir.dmv.ca.gov/FeeCalculatorWeb/index.jsp Oh yea the dealer installed the wheel locks for free and carpets were in the car also. Good luck peps
novice150, I feel your pain--I originally wanted to buy the Civic in central Florida before I moved to Ohio, but the fee game made me change my mind. I have a quote from Immeke Honda in Dublin, Ohio (previously given a thumbs up in this discussion) for an EX manual for 17,821, which isn't Christmas in July, but it's the best I've got so far. The only thing that throws me off is the disclaimer: This price is valid for ten days and is subject to a vehicle in stock. Umm. Nobody has this vehicle in stock, so I guess this quote is worthless. Do I get a "free upgrade", or a rain check? So I'm happy to read the accompanying BS about how they are a "fair" dealer and don't play games. Has anyone had a good experience in the Columbus OH area? Roush Honda seems to have the largest inventory, but I can't visit, since I'm still in FLA, and I haven't heard from their internet manager. thanks!
Last night I went to Immke Honda in Dublin, oh and ordered a 4dr LX with auto. I didn't get any options and over the internet they quoted me $16675, which I took after getting them to toss in a few little goodies. Most everywhere else in central ohio was $500-600 more. The two main places both offered me the same for my trade, which I thought was fair. So... LX 4dr auto -> 16675 before tax and title trade -> 4000 tax -> 856 title -> 58 Out the door including my trade = 13589 Excluding my trade it would have been 17859.
