Buying a car from a Honda Car Dealer
I had an extremely good experience with Park Honda in Akron this summer. I was on home leave and needed to buy a vehicle. I did a ton of research, and then started emailing dealerships. The folks at Park were the most responsive in answering all my questions and finding the exact car I was looking for--CR-V EX 2WD. There are not a lot of 2WDs in Ohio, but they found me one from another dealer. It had mud flaps on it, which I didn't care about/need. Total price, including destination, mud flaps, and bogus doc fee was $21,700. I'm not an Ohio resident, so I didn't have to pay sales tax. The car has been GREAT. I drove it over 2700 miles from Ohio to Mexico City and found it to be roomy, comfy, and good on gas. (Averaged 28 mph.) My 6'2", 270-lb nephew helped with part of the drive and also was comfy in the car. I was very happy with the way Park worked with me to handle some special issues I had, and I'm delighted with the car.
Picked up my Odyssey EX-L (No res/nav) from Mike Pruitt Honda in Akron, Ohio yesterday. The entire experience was a nice. I bought the van for 29800 - $2000 dealer incentives + TTL. I got about $1200 less for my trade in (SUV) according to blue book values, but I also realize that gas sucking SUV's are not popular now. The trade in price was fairly close to comparable values on the trade-in forums. Overall, I think it was a fair deal. The finance lady was nice, gave me her sale pitches, but was not a hard sell. She took a polite no thank you and did not push it. I knew my credit rating scores, and she gave me a better rate through Honda than I could have gotten elsewhere. I was surprised by the ample inventory on the lot. My closest Honda dealer only had one Civic on the lot - which they were using as a demo. I think it might have been a ploy to create demand and charge full sticker. Mike Pruitt had 15 civics on the lot. Mike Pruitt seems to have a large push with the internet sales - I would highly recommend them when looking for a new Honda.
thats a pretty good price. Here in Akron, the new Honda dealership by the mall is dealing. They had 14 in stock last week, having a tough time moving them due to the high price of gas here, $ 3.89/gal. Edna
hi, jarthur, it is Mike Pruitt Honda in Akron.
Hi Pete3721, All went well! Arrived at 10:30 out by 2:30. Our salesman was very accommodating. Price was as we agreed to over the phone, $26,895 for a Desert Rock EXL(would've liked Silver Pearl but none in stock). We live in Chicago proper so it was a bit of a drive, but they were able to save us 1/2% in tax because they are registered with Cook County. They did manage to talk us into the ext. clear coat and int. leather+ rug, but we negotiated heavily to get the best price. Not sure if I would have bought it now, but they gave what I thought was a good deal. Also took advantage of the 4.9% finance so good deal overall. Here it is. '06 Odyssey EXL 26,895 (incl. dest) $85.00 mudguards $1250 8/120/0 $197 title+lic. $1550 IL state tax $450ish Cook County and Chicago tax $30,000 give or take before the dents/ding, tire, VIN etching, and ext. clear coat protection and int. leather/vinyl/rug protection was added. If you decide not to do the protection packages, you may want to reconsider the VIN etching b/c our insurance agent said it saved us 5% on our premium. If they don't give you a good deal on the extended warranty then you may want to try the hondacareguy that has been mentioned in other people's posts from Mike Pruitt Honda in Akron, OH who gave us the original quote for the warranty. He gave a wealth of info. and was easy to deal with. Since Brilliance was able to meet the same deal, the hondacareguy suggested to use them. What an honest guy, would have bought from him if Brilliance didn't match! Good luck! What color are you going with?
