Buying a car from a Honda Car Dealer
Yes, Breakaway's price was OTD. They did not break it down, but as a SC Resident it would have gone something like this: Vehicle (including destination): $28,936 SC Taxes (they're capped at $300) $300 Tags: $39 I'd suspect that the vehicle price is actually slightly lower, and they charge a doc fee, but the OTD is the same. If you're in NC, your taxes and tags will be higher, of course (sorry!). Here are the NC Dealer quotes I received. All are OTD, based on South Carolina taxes/tags (Taxes in SC = $300, tags = $39). Adjust as needed for NC. Auto Park Honda - Cary $29,558 High Country Honda - Boone $29,664 Vann York Honda - High Point $30,000 Asheboro Honda - Asheboro $30,273 Crown Honda Chapel Hill - Chapel Hill $30,599 Bob Barbour Honda - Greenville $30,754 Alan Vester Honda - Roanoke Rapids $32,508 The following NC dealers did not response with a quote (make of it what you will): Burlington Honda - Burlington Coastal Carolina Honda - New Bern Courtesy Honda - Goldsboro Davenport Honda - Rocky Mount Hope that helps!
Your best price should be 27300~600, plus doc fee, 3%tax, and ttl. Note that wake county has doc.fee of 399, and therefore outside wake county u will get doc fee of 299. I had good experience with burlington honda, auto park, goldsboro, boyd. so start with one that are farther from your place, and had the nearest dealer match their price. Eventually I had to call them, provide my ph. number to get the price down ~400. Auto park honda has the largest inventory, so he should be your preferred dealer after you negotiate price with all others. Good Luck.
Hi renee: I checked with Bob barber in Greenville and found they were not willing to deal at the price I was asking. I ended up purchasing from the dealership in Wilson, NC. I purchased an EXL RES for 30215 after tax tags and license. Sanford Honda was willing to go this low, but everyone else I checked with said they could not match that price. I see from another posting that someone paid much lower for their EXL RES in Ashboro, NC(29200). I would check them first, then check with Wilson. Wilson will also locate the vehicle at that price without a locator's fee. The salesperson that I spoke with was very friendly and easy to deal with. I think that Goldsboro had a black and a white EXL RES on the lot. I am pretty sure that Wilson can locate a White EXL RES since the lot that they got mine from also had a white exl res on it. Dealers not willing to work with my price: Goldsboro, Greenville, Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Burlington. I sent you an email to your carspace email account. Also: you mentioned you have a Kia Sedona which I am assuming you will trade in. I had a trade in, but I ended up selling for $2500 above my trade in value before I bought the EXL RES.
Thanks for the information - we're really impressed with the offer you got in Asheboro and we're trying negotiate something similar with them as I type this post. If there is any other information you could send my way it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I posted a while back that my neighbor bought the 2006 Odyssey EXL-RES for 30315 OTD (base of 28900), no extras, from Goldsboro, NC. No dealer in Raleigh would match him(they offered 29100). I then tried another dealer within 50 miles and was quoted 29613 OTD. Next I called dealers in Greenville and Wilson, no matching offer was to be made. The Cary dealer told me that he could not match this price with a 10 foot pole. I was not yet satisfied, so I tried one more dealer. He quoted me OTD of 29206.25. Not only that, but he said he would locate any color combination that I wanted for that price with no locator fee (waive $150), guaranteed until September 5th. Well, I will post this dealer's location after I go in and actually purchase this vehicle. We did not break down the components of the price into base, destination, doc fees, tax(3%), tags($74), but this price blows away every other quote I have received to date. I hope to post our buying numbers soon, after our purchase is made. I am also going to search for one of those 8/120k/0 deduct extended warranties(I have read $1250 price quote). I will porbably also make use of Honda's 4.9% financing for 60 months, which he said would be available at this price, bringing our monthly payments to about $549 with 0 down.
