EX-L w/ RES from Bob Barbour in Greenville, NC
by minerniner on Mon Jun 16 20:24:22 PDT 2008
Bought a 2008 EX-L w/ RES tonight. Sent e-mails to 20 dealers in NC (greensboro area, raleigh area, charlotte area, and eastern, nc) and Richmond, VA area on Sunday. Had a good quote from both Leith Honda and Sanford Honda. E-mailed Bob Barbour Honda to see if he would beat it. I walked out the door with $29,793 and the 2.9% rate. Bob Barbour Honda also includes a lifetime powertrain warranty that covers the same components of the 5/60,000 honda powertrain warranty. The price was a $100 less than Leith Honda and about $300 more than Sanford Honda. I felt the extra warranty was worth the extra $300 and I didn't have to make the 90 minute drive to Sanford Honda. e-mail me and I will send you the salesmen's name and e-mail. Then I would get a referral bonus: rhlentz@mac.com. here are the details: 28500 base and destination 855 tax 69 plates 369 doc fees 29793 total

Yes, Breakaway's price was OTD. They did not break it down, but as a SC Resident it would have gone something like this: Vehicle (including destination): $28,936 SC Taxes (they're capped at $300) $300 Tags: $39 I'd suspect that the vehicle price is actually slightly lower, and they charge a doc fee, but the OTD is the same. If you're in NC, your taxes and tags will be higher, of course (sorry!). Here are the NC Dealer quotes I received. All are OTD, based on South Carolina taxes/tags (Taxes in SC = $300, tags = $39). Adjust as needed for NC. Auto Park Honda - Cary $29,558 High Country Honda - Boone $29,664 Vann York Honda - High Point $30,000 Asheboro Honda - Asheboro $30,273 Crown Honda Chapel Hill - Chapel Hill $30,599 Bob Barbour Honda - Greenville $30,754 Alan Vester Honda - Roanoke Rapids $32,508 The following NC dealers did not response with a quote (make of it what you will): Burlington Honda - Burlington Coastal Carolina Honda - New Bern Courtesy Honda - Goldsboro Davenport Honda - Rocky Mount Hope that helps!

Was the quote from Breakaway Honda in Greenville an actual OTD quote? Can you itemize it? Thanks. Did you receive any quotes from the RTP, NC area and if so were they competitive?
Re: EXL-RES: Look around enough, and you will find the deals. [renee_rn]

Hi renee: I checked with Bob barber in Greenville and found they were not willing to deal at the price I was asking. I ended up purchasing from the dealership in Wilson, NC. I purchased an EXL RES for 30215 after tax tags and license. Sanford Honda was willing to go this low, but everyone else I checked with said they could not match that price. I see from another posting that someone paid much lower for their EXL RES in Ashboro, NC(29200). I would check them first, then check with Wilson. Wilson will also locate the vehicle at that price without a locator's fee. The salesperson that I spoke with was very friendly and easy to deal with. I think that Goldsboro had a black and a white EXL RES on the lot. I am pretty sure that Wilson can locate a White EXL RES since the lot that they got mine from also had a white exl res on it. Dealers not willing to work with my price: Goldsboro, Greenville, Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Burlington. I sent you an email to your carspace email account. Also: you mentioned you have a Kia Sedona which I am assuming you will trade in. I had a trade in, but I ended up selling for $2500 above my trade in value before I bought the EXL RES.

I currently have a 2003 Kia Sedona EX......yep and looking for a 2006 Honda or Toyota. Kia was good for the first 2 or so years-but getting tired of it now. I really like the Honda better than Toyota--but will go with the best deal. I am interested in a 2006 EXL--white. Do all EXLs come with sunroof? Don't particularly want DVD (can purchase at Best Buy for cheaper), but will take it if deal is right. Hubby and I are going to start shopping soon and I just wanted to know what to expect with pricing? (We are in Greenville, NC) What is the lowest price I could offer without them laughing us out the door? Are 2006 prices starting to go down to make room for 2007--is now a good time to buy? Sorry for all the ?'s--just don't wanna get jipped! Thanks!
