You are going to too many dealers test drving many cars and emailing numerous internet departments. Do not be concerend about the breakdown of the price ... What really matters is OTD because we ALL pay an OTD price. $30,500 OTD for a V6 Accord is a crazy high price.. a V6 Coupe with Navi is 29,375 OTD and a Sedan would be 29 even OTD.

Perhaps the have a glut of Odyssey vans they want to sell (they are rather costly just "sitting around" on the lot). I just looked at a report on Honda's internal website. There are two Hendricks Honda stores -- one in VA and one in NC. VA sold 221 units in June while NC sold 352. 221 isn't that strong but perhaps in that area it's HUGE. 352 on the other hand is strong. Hendricks NC is ranked 18th in volume while VA is a dismal 139. My guess is they (VA) are trying to pump the numbers up to NC's numbers. The only way to do true high volume sales is to sometimes give 'em away. My guess is that in the greater DC area there are more Honda dealers which spreads the volume thin. I tell this to people all of the time, "If a dealer is willing to LOSE real dollars to sell you a car, buy it."

Thanks for the response...so a fair negotiated price has been high 33's to mid 34's. I am located in the southeast, and more specifically NC...where we have not been hit as bad with the drop in housing values. I guess demand may be a bit higher here, but I could be wrong. Anyone with info from the SE US? Does the dealer get both the 2k marketing support and the 2k financing "bonus" if I finance with them? I want to make it fair for the dealer and myself of course, but don't want to be bent over as well. Thanks for the input!

sunrise52 - be careful so Criswell does not 'accidentally' lose your order. I say that because by July, the Honda Fit (and cars like it) will be in such high demand that dealers will do what they need to do to make a buck (after all those Ridgeline's aren't selling are they?). I suggest getting the VIN from the dealer as soon as possible. BTW - do you live in MD or NC? Just curious because those dealers are so far apart.

Even at 27k OTD this is a wee bit on the high side for this car.

Yes, Breakaway's price was OTD. They did not break it down, but as a SC Resident it would have gone something like this: Vehicle (including destination): $28,936 SC Taxes (they're capped at $300) $300 Tags: $39 I'd suspect that the vehicle price is actually slightly lower, and they charge a doc fee, but the OTD is the same. If you're in NC, your taxes and tags will be higher, of course (sorry!). Here are the NC Dealer quotes I received. All are OTD, based on South Carolina taxes/tags (Taxes in SC = $300, tags = $39). Adjust as needed for NC. Auto Park Honda - Cary $29,558 High Country Honda - Boone $29,664 Vann York Honda - High Point $30,000 Asheboro Honda - Asheboro $30,273 Crown Honda Chapel Hill - Chapel Hill $30,599 Bob Barbour Honda - Greenville $30,754 Alan Vester Honda - Roanoke Rapids $32,508 The following NC dealers did not response with a quote (make of it what you will): Burlington Honda - Burlington Coastal Carolina Honda - New Bern Courtesy Honda - Goldsboro Davenport Honda - Rocky Mount Hope that helps!
