Lease for 2012 AWD CRV-EX-L by tweety74 on Mon Jan 30 11:38:27 PST 2012

Hi, Hoping someone can help me out. I live in Queens NY and am looking into leasing the 2012 AWD CRV-EX-L. I visited a dealership in my area and was quoted a price of $27,526 with destination included. They came up with $0 down except for the first month payment and $400.00 a month with the taxes rolled into each payment. I feel that this sounds high. Can someone tell me what they think? Any other dealerships beside Honda of manhasset that you recommend? Is it better to wait for president's day sales? I'm new here so ANY INPUT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED! Thanks

2012 Accord Sedan LX Lease by thebigtuna79 on Thu Jan 19 13:51:14 PST 2012

Just leased my wife a 2012 Accord Sedan LX (Base) 36 months / 12K per year. $1750 total out of pocket which included the following $595 Bank Fee $490 New York State Taxes (8.375%) Paid all taxes up front $250 DMV (NY State Registration and Plates) $250 Doc Fee (BS Fee added on by dealer) $159 1st month Payment 35 remaining payments of $159 (this is the payment that comes in the statement) Basically, if I were going to do a sign and drive, it would be $204 with zilch outta pocket, (DMV, BANK FEE, TAXES rolled in). Beware of adverstisements in Newspapers that claim $99 or $129 a month, they're all BS. This is the best deal in the NY/NJ/PA area. Trust me, I shopped around !

Re: New to leasing 139 36mo accord is that good?? [ubobby] by SergeyM on Fri Dec 30 12:56:49 PST 2011

I usually add all dollar amounts together and divide them by number of months the lease is for. Often I even ask the sales guy to roll ALL fees into the monthly payment. In your case it is $248 per month to lease Accord SE for 36 months. It seems to be a decent deal to me. Last year a friend of mine leased EX-L for $290 per month. Your deal seems to be a little bit better. Here is the catch though. There is absolutely NO way to get out of a lease except to make ALL monthly payments. Sales person just lied to you. Should not be a surprise, that is what they do for living. Residual value is the value of the car (wholesale) after you are done with it. You also will be able to buy it for that amount if you decide to keep it.

I assume that you just returning your 2009, not trading it. If so I would say the price is great if it is actually no money down, just 36 payments of $358 each.

My price quote by c00lguy20 on Wed Nov 16 17:04:22 PST 2011

Checked out a '12 sport today. Car salesman are such lying scum. They just make stuff up as they go along and some of it is such obvious lies it is laughable. The sad part is my salesman looked less shady than most of the others. The dealer puts a "phantom footprint" on every car and they charge $260 or so and if your car gets stolen and totaled you get $5000 towards a new car at that dealership. Total scam. Well he insists they have to charge for it and "reduced" the price by $200 or so. Cost of the car including the phantom footprint ripoff quoted at 18,460 which happens to be the sticker price. No bargain there. They want $75 for the "optional" dealer fee which he insists is not optional, and here's the kicker, he said the registration fee would be about $149, and when I pressed him on the exact amount he PRETENDED to call someone (think GlennGarry Glenn Ross) and said it was actually $198. Total BS, actual title and registration should be about $115. The NYS attorney general has actually gone after dealerships for overcharging for the registration fee yet they still continue to try this trick. So right now I'm at Car + phantom footprint:$18460 $10 inspection $12 some kind of tire charge $75 "optional" dealer fee $198 registration (I'm definitely going to get this lowered, hopefully to $115) Plus sales tax which the salesman computed on the $18460 only, but I'm sure it will be applied to more than that. I have some more haggling to do, but I don't really have much wiggle room, as the fit does not seem to be a car dealers stock a lot of. I plan to get the rubber mats and cargo area mat but can find them much cheaper from a dealer online. $89 for the mats and $69 for the cargo mat, way cheaper than the dealer. The floor model had rubber mats and cargo mat and wheel locks for something like $350. Total ripoff!
